Off BSG for a moment, Wallybee and I had a corker of a Race for the Galaxy game last night. She was pursuing a standard military strategy, while I was going production. Round 3, I chose to Develop and Settle; she did a double Settle, but first leeched off my develop phase to land Improved Logistics. This lets her place two worlds in every Settle action, and since her military strength was up to 6 by now, there's no shortage of options. By round end, she's placed five extra cards to my two.
I had a cracking final round. In a surprise move, I gave up one of my phases to go searching for an Alien world, and picked up just what I needed. I added 20 points in one round (almost doubling my score), 12 of them due to that play. However, it wasn't quite enough to catch Wallybee's military juggernaut, and she took the game by 4 points. Her layout alone was worth 25 points more than mine; I'd scraped back points everywhere I could find them, but her efficiency drive took the day.
That sounds like a lot of fun.
BSG
Okay, well, it's something of a risk without an IC, of course, but it sounds like we think we can pass the skill check. I can only help a bit.
I
choose the skill check. No interrupts.
BSG
Possible interrupts are: IC, SR, Reckless interrupts. Everyone who hasn't yet sent me COs, please pass or play on interrupts. You can also send me COs for the check (if you haven't yet done so). Cain will start the check, Anders will finish it.
BSG
Ok, that's long enough for interrupts. Everyone passes, and we can start the check. I have some COs:
Destiny:
2 cards
Cain:
2 cards
Baltar:
2 cards
Boomer:
2 cards
Cally:
Anders:
COs received
Cally is next. Cally, you may play no cards, or at least 2 cards.
BSG
I'm going to cross my fingers that we've got this check, I think the two cards that I can play would be overkill and I can't play just one of them.
I play no cards
BSG
Finally, Anders plays one card. Result:
Consolidate Power 2
Consolidate Power 2
Investigative Committee 3
Executive Order 1
Declare Emergency 3
At Any Cost 4
Declare Emergency 5
Maximum Firepower 5
Repair 1
Tally: 20 - 6 = 14. Pass!
The unsettlilng stories are quashed by the testimony of a surprise witness: the insects of the Amazon basin! Morale is saved!
Now we get the good stuff: shooting at you people. The raiders in Sector 1 move to Sector 6, that's easy enough. The raiders in Sector 4 open fire on Boomer!
Raider 1: 6. Viper damaged!
But Boomer plays an EM-1.
Raider 1a: 3 - 2 = 1. Miss.
Raider 2: 4. Miss.
Raider 3: 8. Viper destroyed!
Now it's Anders' turn to play an EM-1.
Raider 3a: 7 - 2 = 5. Viper damaged!
Anders saves Boomer's bacon with
another
EM-1.
Raider 3b: 7 - 2 = 5. Viper damaged!
Alas, no more help is forthcoming. Boomer lands in Sickbay, and the final raider advances to Sector 5.
Finally, your jump prep advances. That concludes Anders' turn. Cain has opted to draw Leadership for her optional draw. Cain, when you're ready, please post your move and action.

BSG
Yeeps. Cain, could you XO Boomer out of Sickbay to Comms that civvie out of the way?? I shouldn't XO her if you can't, but I'd be tempted to if I could so she doesn't lose her card draw.
BSG
Frak! I didn't draw an XO or an SP.
I'm thinking I should move to Main Batteries and hoping someone else has an SP but I'm going to pause for a moment in case someone else has a better idea.
BSG
Still woozy from that whole getting the viper shot up, ejecting, getting rescued from space and landing in Sickbay adventure. Doc Cottle is pretty free with the morphine under these circumstances, y'all! My point being, sorry if I am not picking up on the obvious, but what is your plan that could use Strategery Plannification, Admiral?
