Jayne: What're you gonna tell the others? Mal: About what? Jayne: About why I'm dead. Mal: Hadn't thought about it. Jayne: Make something up. Don't tell 'em what I did.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Ohh...that's pretty painful, W. Nicely done, though.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Wow. You folks are knocking them out of the park this week.

Never Better

She closes the door behind her. It's late, later than she'd meant to be. Shoes in one hand, the other on the wall as a guide, she shuffles down the hall. Even ten years familiarity doesn't obviate the need for guidance in the pitch black. It's slow going. Sticking to one side of the hall, she skirts the floorboards in the middle that squeak: an extra long step ri-i-i-i-ght there. She keeps her gaze averted from the closed door along the opposite wall. No matter if it were open, anyway. It was too late for them a long time ago.

Thanks, Wolfram.

FYI, there's a board member actually named SA, so folks usually shorten my moniker to Sail to avoid confusion.

Because books.

I love that, Sail.

Yay drabble writing people!

I'm trying to be proactive, so even though it's early, this week's prompt is: burn .

Thanks, Sail. I won't edit it now, but I'm kicking myself because I actually knew that. I blame old age.

Yay, new prompt!

Shift

Have you ever felt that little thrill when you're reading the news and your local city or town gets mentioned? You know like when you read FARMINGTON MAN WINS POWERBALL or RECORD SNOWFALL IN POUGHKEEPSIE, and you know other people are reading it too? It's cool, right?

Sometimes you'll see something closer to home - BURGLARY SPREE ON MCELHENNEY BLVD. You'll be like, geez that's just two blocks up, better lock my doors. But you'll still get that little tingle.

I saw the headline on my AOL newsfeed. AUDREY LANE HOUSE FIRE TRAGEDY, TRAVELING DAD STILL NOT INFORMED.

No longer true.

Oh, man. That is definitely a kicker.
