That's my girl, large and in-charge. Okay, teensy-weensy and in charge.

Thanks, Wolfram.

FYI, there's a board member actually named SA, so folks usually shorten my moniker to Sail to avoid confusion.

Because books.

I love that, Sail.

Yay drabble writing people!

I'm trying to be proactive, so even though it's early, this week's prompt is: burn .

Thanks, Sail. I won't edit it now, but I'm kicking myself because I actually knew that. I blame old age.

Yay, new prompt!

Shift

Have you ever felt that little thrill when you're reading the news and your local city or town gets mentioned? You know like when you read FARMINGTON MAN WINS POWERBALL or RECORD SNOWFALL IN POUGHKEEPSIE, and you know other people are reading it too? It's cool, right?

Sometimes you'll see something closer to home - BURGLARY SPREE ON MCELHENNEY BLVD. You'll be like, geez that's just two blocks up, better lock my doors. But you'll still get that little tingle.

I saw the headline on my AOL newsfeed. AUDREY LANE HOUSE FIRE TRAGEDY, TRAVELING DAD STILL NOT INFORMED.

No longer true.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Oh. Ouch. Nicely done.

Oh, man. That is definitely a kicker.

Thanks Beverly. Thanks Sail.

It's been too long since I've written anything, and now I can slowly feel those old writing muscles coming back. Which is good, because I have a creative writing commitment elsewhere that's two weeks late.

I think Douglas Adams once said: I love deadlines. I love the whooshing sound they make when they go by.

Haha, yeah. I've got a 18k fic sitting idling that I was supposed to have finished for an advent challenge - from 2013.

Do not talk to me. I don't know how I get myself into this deep doodoo, but I'm working on an a/b/o challenge fic--with an asexual omega, so there you go. Much headdesking.

Laps

Mommy put my cake down. It said my name right on top of the bright red racetrack. Or I think it did. There was a big T and the circle that Jane said makes an Oooh and showed me with her mouth. I counted four candles that Mommy lit. "What about for good luck?" I said.

Jordan started singing "Happy Birthday" until Leah elbowed him and hissed "idiot". Daddy gave them dirty looks. Mommy stared at the cake. "Stupid fucking design."

"Tommy loved cars," Daddy said.

"No I don't. Cars hurt."

Then I cried because they couldn't hear me anymore.
