If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I've been struggling with the fact that with all the campaign fighting and everything going on, it's hard not to get depressed sometimes. But you know, there's actually some really cool shit happening:

Fewer than 50% of the Democrats in the United States House and United States Senate combined are white, male, straight and Christian.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

That's pretty cool.

I'm still a bit freaked about my cat. She's drinking (some) water, eating a little bit, but she still hasn't pooped and only peed a little. The doctor called with the final test results this morning, and she's a bit concerned about her (misshapen on the x-ray) kidney and its output. If she doesn't use the litter box more before Monday, I should bring her back in to have her looked at again. Also, her fever is still around, although I don't think it's as high as it was yesterday.

Punishingly Intricate

Pose #3 I've actually done in Yoga! I think it's called Frog pose, and is indeed a runner-up to the handstand.

It looks like crow pose (bakasana) to me.

[link]

Frog is a hip opener done on the ground; it's not a balancing pose if I'm remembering correctly. yes

Crow is my NEMESIS! I've been trying to do it for...oh, years now, and I'm just no good at it. It has something to do with my center of balance but also I'm just kind of a pussy about not wanting to fall on my face. I can do a headstand and I can do a handstand (well, against the wall) but crow continues to elude me. I'm pretty sure Kat can do it.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

More babypic spam, from this morning: bucket full of Boo!

Emmett gave her bucket-rides for a good twenty minutes this morning so we could sleep in.

They enjoy each other so much it's ridiculous. When I was getting in the shower I could hear them harmonizing (sort of) on the vowel sounds. Sort of like: Eeeeeeee! Ooooooooh! Ahhhhhhh! Wooooooo!

And her wheedling voice fight nicely on top of his.

We won our game today and Emmett managed to not wind up in a painful heap at home plate, as he has the last two games.

I'm getting weirdly anxious as the season progresses because some kids from Emmett's tournament team aren't playing well enough to make the All-Star team. That's going to be so hard on them, if they don't make it.

I love crow! Lisa, just put an extra blanket in front of your face and rest assured that you can move your head to the side. to really get into it, you need to lift your hips and move your heart in front of your hands. That's the balance piece.

If you come visit, I'll help you!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh, thank goodness my soup came out good! The bread is just OK, and I was worried about the soup. Granted, I put a whole block of cheese in, so how could that be bad?

Otherwise, I have entirely wasted my day. I'll do things tomorrow, I promise!

OMG, now I'm watching Thursday's Colbert, and it's SO AWESOME.

Art Crawl!!!

I just lost a contact lens in possibly the most idiotic way I have ever lost one: my eyes have been feeling dry so I took the contact out intending to hold it up to the light to see if it was smudged (why do I do this?) and I turned to the light and pressed my fingertips together and it went flying and I have NO IDEA where. It was in the midst of my sofa - with all the pillows and throws and stacks of library books and I've looked for it and found nothing. . .

But things I did do right: went to get my passport renewed and also picked up lots of books at the library.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I am not happy. We just had a tornado cell blow over, and in the aftermath my living room ceiling sprang 3 minor leaks. To add insult to injury, when the power came back on the flare of light made me think the candle in my bedroom had caught something on fire and while jumping up I punched a pen through my pocket and left an inkstain on my fairly new white couch.
