It's one of those things. When there's only one bathroom, someone will always walk into it and lock the door just as I'm getting up to use it. And then spend 45 minutes taking a shower.

And I'm not a germaphobe, but I do like it when the place I go to get clean isn't a sticky, moldy mess of hair and crusty toothpaste.

Possibly because I am not a biological mom, the NPR article didn't ping me. It read just as facts, not judgemental. As for the stay at home part - it is work from home isn't it? Several work from home moms in my hood still hire care for their kids.

One mom was stay at home and one was work at home one day a week (otherwise work full time). It was the sister who was talking about how it would break her heart to put her kids in day care, ever, and how she is always with them that pinged me. I think it has to do with the assumption that working moms aren't fulfilling their responsibility (her word!) and that day care warps children that set me off.

At this point, I have more guilt about working full time. And then I remember: it pays the bills and provides insurance and means I get to retire one day!
