Did any of you hear NPR's story about the biological superiority of early motherhood and the nascence of stay-at-home moms?
I heard that. And I was like, you know what, this is why I am glad I am human. Because humans do things that are not dictated by biology. Like wear pants! And survive cancer! I think I shall go do something biology cannot stop me from doing, like have some ice cream. (Even if some of the population has to take Lactaid pills afterwards.)

You paint quite a picture there, shrift.
It's one of those things. When there's only one bathroom, someone will always walk into it and lock the door just as I'm getting up to use it. And then spend 45 minutes taking a shower.
And I'm not a germaphobe, but I do like it when the place I go to get clean isn't a sticky, moldy mess of hair and crusty toothpaste.
If the bathroom is dirty, it's just better if I only have myself to blame, you know?
Possibly because I am not a biological mom, the NPR article didn't ping me. It read just as facts, not judgemental. As for the stay at home part - it is work from home isn't it? Several work from home moms in my hood still hire care for their kids.
One mom was stay at home and one was work at home one day a week (otherwise work full time). It was the sister who was talking about how it would break her heart to put her kids in day care, ever, and how she is always with them that pinged me. I think it has to do with the assumption that working moms aren't fulfilling their responsibility (her word!) and that day care warps children that set me off.
At this point, I have more guilt about working full time. And then I remember: it pays the bills and provides insurance and means I get to retire one day!
I haven't heard the NPR report, but I've been driving my desk all day - is there a link up?
This piece on Rush Limbaugh's "Operation Chaos" just makes me want to scream and throw things. [link]
What I heard on NPR this morning just made me roll my eyes forever that there are still (apparently) all these women running around assuming that not having kids until they are 40 is no problem. If I ever do get pregnant, it will be in my late 30s, and there are good reasons for that, but I am under no misapprehension about the biological realities of things.

Yeah, I'm wondering if the radio version was different, because nothing in that article strikes me as ping-y. (Or news, but that's a whole nother issue.)
