Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I have no idea how many calories I eat in a day. I'm guessing more than 1200 and less than 2000. 1600? Not sure.

We had family fiesta day at daycare today--the parents bring a pot luck lunch with the kids. DH came too. It was so nice except it sapped my will to do much else today. Hrm. With luck, I'll have the will to work tomorrow.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Having read the issue of Cook's Country I have to say the tone falls flat for me. The recipes may be very good--there are more of them than in an issue of Cook's Illustrated, and the thirty minute dinners are a goldmine if they're tasty, but the personality of it doesn't click. The page of kitchen outtakes was just a list of stupid things people copped to having done in the kitchen. Whoope de doo.

Off to take a potentially redundant medication. I can't believe I'm allowed to take care of me.

Are they still sending out that same issue of Cooks Country? The one with the red checkered table cloth on the cover and the brownie recipe inside?

I didn't remember brownies. It's way in the other room. It had a low-fat chocolate chip cookie recipe that I kinda want to make into an oatmeal cookie recipe once I can eat wheat again. There was also...pasta primavera, freezer lasagna, and then I don't remember exactly.

Gratuitous baby picspam:

Noah likes to remove and eat his socks and vogue and stand and gnaw on things and show off the world's greatest bellybutton.

And make funny noises and do aerobics.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Dear vice president co-worker:

Please LEARN how the system works before asking me to do things that are completly different from the system's purpose, especially after I spent last night until 23:00 doing my best to understand what do you want from me and do a hell lot of overtime to help you out with it.

Also? "Oh, no, so you just worked for nothing"? Isn't the best way to say "I'm really sorry I wasn't clear about what I wanted you to do from the start, so you won't have to work so much helping me out".

Plus? Trust me, you can figure out what you wanted from the data I already sent, if you give it 5 minutes of thought.

FYI.

Fucking AAAAARRRRRGGGG!

Edit: it's worse than I thought. Not. Enough. Hate. In the world.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Shir, fwiw, I've found that one of my most important functions as a developer is to save the users from themselves. Keep pushing back at them just enough to make sure that they have clarified exactly what they want and that they'll get it in a form they understand.

It was a day of empowerment when I realized I could screw over users I didn't like by giving them EXACTLY what they asked for. Not that I use this power for evil, but knowing I have it is something of a comfort.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Theodosia, unfortunately, when I give my company what they want and they realize they were wrong, I'm usually the one who has to do the rework.

So for me, it's a boomerang power. And that's ALWAYS evil.

I just didn't need that today. It's the weekend in about 3 hours, and I just don't have any energy left in me for this kind of screw-ups.

And now, there's a question in a board I'm lurking that I can answer really easily and no one else there knows or seems to remember. I don't like that board much, but I really want to give the answer. But I have to register to give it. Bah.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

And Aerosoles just cancelled shipping of the red shoes I asked about! I'm bitter! I'd been placing them with outfits since I bought them.

Aerosoles by mail is the worst! Learn from my mistake, and from lisah's! Don't let them fool you!

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I wasn't impressed by Cook's Country. I was all ready to like it, but eh, I don't cook like that. And yet they continue to send me the same damn free sample issue over and over and over...

I love this one of Noah. Such glee!
