Random research question of the night:
Suppose you wanted to render someone unconscious for an hour or two, but would prefer not to kill him or permanently damage his brain. What part of his head do you club him over--top, side, back of head, forehead?
That kind of unconsciousness from physical violence to the cranium really only ever happens in the movies (or in books). It's a common enough trope, I suppose you could get away with it, but I would strongly recommend finding some other solution to your character's dilemma.
Well, I mainly just wanted to render him quiet and passive so the people who've just captured him can take him to where they're going to hold him captive without him kicking up a ruckus or trying to get away. Though, you know, I guess one of them could just hold a pistol to his head or something.

Give the guy a crack to the head to knock him out for a few minutes, then have him hog-tied for transport. Or even just have the character be conscious but docile for the trip -- a blow to the head can take the fight out of you for a while, even if you were only down for a minute or two. Possibly even have one of the head-crackers acknowledge that it's an imprecise method of pacification, and that it's easy to accidentally kill someone by hitting them

My trivia team came in 22 out of over 400 teams. Not too shabby. I even managed to pull a few answers for them (earning me a "Good job, Noobie!").
"What, they hit him THERE? How is he not dead or a vegetable?"
It's not about where you hit someone, it's more about how hard. Sean's right--you're not going to be able to get anything on a scale larger than minutes out of unconsciousness itself. If you want him inactive you're going to need to do something else.
Ah, great. It's not so much the interest that's the barrier--I have to account for the unemployment I received this year. That's going to be its own little challenge to research.
I can't believe it, but at last, I finished the mini-project for work.
Just let me say that when I have a deadline that's about to pass any minute now, the safe way to make sure I'll stay focused on my work ISN'T planting spikeithard.com into the list of sites for me to index.
This is the part of the morning where I suddenly realize that I'm not on my way to class, because somehow the day has sprung forward an hour or so. And it happens nearly every weekday, too!
Mornings are hard.
mac still has a small fever and now his throat is all swollen and hurty. We are home for the day. Calling now to get to a Dr.
oh and boss reminded me that I did not do something I needed to on Friday. joy.
Ugh.
I got a brief reprieve on my 9am meeting -- not til 9:30!
