Oddly, she has stopped bringing up my weight ever since I got A Boyfriend Who Obviously Loves Me Even Though I'm Chubby.
This? Does not surprise me. (based on what I've heard about her Issues)
Once in a while, I wonder how different my life might be if I had been raised by a plump -- or even just average-sized -- woman.
Sorry, Mom, I'm not that desperate that I'd mutilate my insides and ruin any enjoyment I have in food for the rest of my freakin' life!
Not to mention the surgical and post-surgical health risks and the fact that regaining weight is just as possible after WLS as from after any other diet.
My dad's kept all the weight (100+) he's lost from his WLS off for about 2 years now, and I congratulated him on that and got the stinkeye from my mom, who declared that she wants him to KEEP LOSING weight and got very annoyed with me when I told her that was very unlikely to happen and she should stop nagging him about it.
@@ Mothers.
Mine nags me about my weight and then spends every meal we share pushing more food at me. I've told her she should pick whichever one she's more fond of, as they're mutually incompatible.
It's ironic, because my kitchen is full of things like double fiber bread and fruit and fish for grilling, whereas hers is the one with cookies and potato salad and ham.
I know from my mom that a lot of her issues with our (my sister and my) weight came from our dad, even though it's most likely his genes that have resulted in our tending to being fat (both his mom and sister were/are obese and have had Type II diabetes and hip issues).
Apparently, when they were going through the death throes of their marriage when I was still in elementary school, he'd blame her for our being fat. Which pisses me off to this day, because not only are his genes most likely a big source, he also had the children-eating policy of "if you don't clear your plate, you won't get dessert." Well, I liked (and still like) dessert, so I'd clean my plate spotless, and still have problems leaving anything behind no matter how full I am.

acting course
HA! yeah, that would be funny. but I think I have enough actress in me already.
Basically, I can get a better understanding they want me to support here, plus intro to what maybe become new marketable skills. win/win + free and none of my "me time".
msbelle, that IS a win.
God bless my mom's repressed midwesterner soul. The only time in my life that she has mentioned my weight is a couple of years ago, after I lost 35 pounds she told me to be careful. OR maybe she said it after I lost weight and got pregnant.
If she disapproves of anything in my diet, I rarely hear about it.
The flip side, of course, is that when I piss her off, she stews and doesn't speak to me.
win/win + free and none of my "me time".
I think that makes it a win/win/win situation!
Grrrr... Fuck you, Google Calendar, for being down! I have appointments with teachers today and I'm not sure with whom or when. Which will make my job sort of sucky today because I will appear even flakier than usual. GR. ARGH.
shrift, can you start with an annhiliation of Brentwood? Because then no one would know I'm flaking on appts.
If she disapproves of anything in my diet, I rarely hear about it.
Yeah, my mom is tiny and she's never once said anything about my weight. Actually my parents are in general pretty respectful of my life and choices I've made. I'm very lucky. (Not to say they don't get on my nerves sometimes.)
