I'm glad that your message was well received, Kathy, that's got to be tough to lay boundaries on. Go you!
Oddly, she has stopped bringing up my weight ever since I got A Boyfriend Who Obviously Loves Me Even Though I'm Chubby.
This? Does not surprise me. (based on what I've heard about her Issues)
You're swimming, you're eating better; you're doing all of the right things to lose weight.
Well, I was. I haven't been swimming in several months, nor really working out, so the weight's been easing back on. I'm not back to where I started last year, but it's getting close. While we're in FL, we're going to go walking and swimming a lot, so I can get back in the swing of it and continue doing it when I return.
I found an (non-credit) online intro to accting course for FREE and my boss approved me taking it during work hours. AWESOME!!
that is awesome! Actually, I think I might be interested if you have time to post or email me the link.
Also, I knew it was an accounting class.
Yay! I just got off the phone with Mom, who's already been online and saw my note. She responded with "I won't say anything about your weight if you don't say anything about mine." (She's much thinner than I am, but still heavier than she's been in years.)
That is great, Kathy! I feel so lucky that My mom and I don't have any weight issues. In fact, my grandma was very mean to her about her weight, so she was very careful of me. We have plenty of other issues, though.
Last night I accidentally told my mom that my boss was being eliminated. I forgot I hadn't told her and my mom asked how she was! With worrisome issues, the best course of action for me is NOT to talk about it with my mother, who takes all the things I am anxious about, multiplies the anxiety about 100-fold, and then asks me about it, repeatedly.

Once in a while, I wonder how different my life might be if I had been raised by a plump -- or even just average-sized -- woman.
Sorry, Mom, I'm not that desperate that I'd mutilate my insides and ruin any enjoyment I have in food for the rest of my freakin' life!
Not to mention the surgical and post-surgical health risks and the fact that regaining weight is just as possible after WLS as from after any other diet.
My dad's kept all the weight (100+) he's lost from his WLS off for about 2 years now, and I congratulated him on that and got the stinkeye from my mom, who declared that she wants him to KEEP LOSING weight and got very annoyed with me when I told her that was very unlikely to happen and she should stop nagging him about it.
@@ Mothers.
Mine nags me about my weight and then spends every meal we share pushing more food at me. I've told her she should pick whichever one she's more fond of, as they're mutually incompatible.
It's ironic, because my kitchen is full of things like double fiber bread and fruit and fish for grilling, whereas hers is the one with cookies and potato salad and ham.
I know from my mom that a lot of her issues with our (my sister and my) weight came from our dad, even though it's most likely his genes that have resulted in our tending to being fat (both his mom and sister were/are obese and have had Type II diabetes and hip issues).
Apparently, when they were going through the death throes of their marriage when I was still in elementary school, he'd blame her for our being fat. Which pisses me off to this day, because not only are his genes most likely a big source, he also had the children-eating policy of "if you don't clear your plate, you won't get dessert." Well, I liked (and still like) dessert, so I'd clean my plate spotless, and still have problems leaving anything behind no matter how full I am.

acting course
HA! yeah, that would be funny. but I think I have enough actress in me already.
Basically, I can get a better understanding they want me to support here, plus intro to what maybe become new marketable skills. win/win + free and none of my "me time".
Thanks msbelle!
