I really don't know how much it blows because as far as I can tell that first episode had somebody else's fingerprints all over it. I don't know what show he wanted to put on the air, but I do feel confident that wasn't it.

I'm seriously boggled that you want to go to bat for Fox. Joss is not the only creator they've fucked with and this is not the only show they've fucked up. They've had a lot of talent and quality and when it succeeds it happens pretty much by accident. They make billions off The Simpsons but didn't have the sense to support Futurama when it was clearly a show with comparable worth. See also: god, way too many shows to list.

They took a chance based on his past reputation, but how he reacts to this will likely bite him in the ass in the end, because seriously, after you've denigrated your boss in the press, where can you go?

He can keep going back to Fox because they turn over their executives every two years. Also, guess what? He just scored the first iTunes tv show hit. So he's working a different angle.

And frankly, nobody in Hollywood cares about handbiting. They care about money. If he can make them money he'll get work. They don't give a shit about making nice.

That's usually your cynical insider line, so I really don't get why you think Fox is doing favors for Joss or anybody else. They're not. They're the same dickweeds they've always been.

Maybe Joss was using the Rolling Stone article as an opportunity to kiss off the studios? He certinaly makes it sound like he's going to look to web based entertainment and wants to paint it as the next frontier for creativity, free from the constraints of studio executives.

But but...the network can give a note. Joss has to write it. The same way an editor gives you notes, and you work with it. You can take a note and write the shit out of it. Or, and this happens, if you really believe the note is ass, you can make a case for yourself, and sometimes the note goes away.

If I think they're in the right, sure. Joss can be wrong. I'd rather have an awesome new Joss show to watch, believe me. I'd rather be dancing myself silly that Joss and Jane and Tim were all working together on really great television.

On this, I think they put up an assload of money. And then gave him an assload more to fix it. Really. Hand over fist.

I do think that in this case, FOX's mistake was buying it in the first place. Somewhere in Joss' noggin, there's a great show, I'm sure. This isn't. Initially, the network was stoked about Joss' great return to television, but it turned into a fantastic trip into the guac.

In other, more awesome, news, I have finally gathered together all of the Strange World episodes on my DVR. There very well may be a one-woman watch and post coming to a thread near you soon.

I caught a bunch of them on Chiller a month back. I finally saw the season finale. That Tim Minear...

That's where I got all of the episodes. I love Chiller.

Once I'm done with Strange World, I'm going to start working my way through Millennium, which Allyson says is my kind of show.

I'm back and forth on Millenium. Sometimes it's just gross.

I watched the run of All Souls on Chiller, and it was a show sorely in need of an arc, but they did a really good job on the creepy.

I will be interested to see where it falls on my spectrum of gross acceptability.
