Mal: Well said. Wasn't that well said, Zoe? Zoe: Had a kind poetry to it, sir.

'Out Of Gas'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Thanks, Julie. *sigh*

Why did the baby have to be born on this episode? I wanted Zoe to save the day somehow.

And next week: Killer Frost!

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

On top of the horrendous clippiness, there was also a hell of lot of wasted potential, what with all the memories brought up. There's a lot of wonderful stories as yet unexplored with the Henry history with Carter and Kim, Carter history with Henry and Allison and alternate timeline, Allison history with Stark and Carter, etc.

And using footage of characters we haven't seen in a while or were tragically dead without any follow-up. Wrong. Exploitative. And cheap. Take a week off next time. Yes I am peeved.

I think they're bringing Stark back. Isn't Ed Quinn done with the other show he was on?

Oh, look, Rocky Horror is coming on. wanders off

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I will say one positive thing about this clip show - no Poochie (and the Fargo/Jo dream bit). Also, lots of Stark which really makes me go "Hmmmm?"

If Stark is going to come back in some way, fantastic. If this is the way they're foreshadowing it? Boo.

Again, not knocking the original bits and what they might portend.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Maybe they wanted to give Salli half an episode as her last? I guess everyone figures they can actually make a decent clip show, but do they not realise that unless you say something new (like the Andromeda episode) with the re-used footage you're just boring your loyal users and probably confusing your most casual ones?

And next time you show me Stark dying, please make more of it.

Did everyone get a rush of everyone's memories? That would be something it would take more than a moment to parse.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Didn't one series have a clip show with no premise a while back? Just "if you've heard about the show but never seen it here's what you need to know follow the new season". Which is fine, because if it is advertised as that, long time viewer can skip it, and it serves its purpose for new viewers or viewers who missed a lot. Of course TWOP can serve the same purpose more entertainingly...

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Lost has those all the time.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Lost did that, IIRC.

But I wouldn't equate that with most clip shows--I think of that as a recap. A clip show is where they don't aim to give you a catch up, but try to wrap a new narrative around old footage.

I can't see TWOP fulfilling the same purpose...it takes them 15 pages to cover 1 episode. I can't imagine them covering one or more seasons.
