A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Torchwood is more "adult" than Doctor Who
Yes, but RTD's gone slightly overboard with that. There's 'more adult', and there's Minear-esque, and then there's 'what did we do to you that was so bad we deserved this...?'
(I did enjoy the mini-series, don't get me wrong.)
No one is watching it except you and me, ita.
I am! And AFAIK it hasn't been officially renewed OR canceled. It's on a kind of indefinite hiatus.
I did hear a rumor that Virtuality is being shopped around for international funding, so even though it definitely will not be on Fox in the fall, it may pop up somewhere else if they can get production money and distribution. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease buy it, Syfy?? I'll forgive your stupid name change and everything, just put my show on the air!
I'm watching Kings. I thought it was dead like a dead thing.
I'm watching. Was. Will be. Verb tense tbd.
Are we absolutely sure that RTD hasn't been hanging out with Minear? It seems like he's been taking lessons.
Before "Exit Wounds," I was convinced that RTD was too chickenshit to ever kill off any of his beloved characters (without immediately reviving them like Jack or Rhys). Boy, has he proved me wrong!
(I did enjoy the mini-series, don't get me wrong.)
I did too, right up until I walked out on it.
Ianto had completed his arc from the standpoint that he came to terms with who and what Jack is and loved him still. Perhaps loved him more. He went out on the strength of his convictions-- all the reasons he came to work for Jack's branch of Torchwood in the first place.
And clearly Jack loved him too, from the way he tried to bargain with the 456 for Ianto's life.
In the "sneak peeks" after the episodes RTD looks particularly Iantoish to me. Do we think this is guilt? Or that Ianto is an RTD Sue?
I'm loving this alien, btw. Sooooooooo much better than the "new shape of forehead ridge" approach.
Last night I had two thougths rolling through my head. (And one that came out when I yelled "BITCHES!" at the screen when Lydia let them have it.)
The first was:
Where is the Doctor? He needs to show up NOW!
The second:
Why don't the 456 just take some children? Why do they keep asking? Whatever the reason is must be a pretty exploitable weakness.
I'm getting her name wrong. Ugh. And I'm afraid I'll be spoiled if I Google. L____ Habbiba. Their gal on the inside.
