Every planet has its own weird customs. About a year before we met, I spent six weeks on a moon where the principal form of recreation was juggling geese. My hand to God. Baby geese. Goslings. They were juggled.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Compassionately intolerant

I'm not sure how it relates but it might just be what you are talking about Fay, regarding the British sensibility. I woke up thinking about The Bridge Over the River Kwai...how fruitless being a hero can be sometimes.

There are other examples I'll probably come up with later. I can see the value of that ethic, in contrast to the US proclivity for happy-slappy, ass-pully happy endings where no one ever seems to suffer a real consequence but sheesh. I'd prefer some sort of middle ground.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I kind of wondered if his "soul"-searching would end up with him deciding to do something else in Eureka.

I thought the exact same thing.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Maybe he'll become an electric monk.

Me too. I thought him wanting to have time in his box was like time in his room. I hope we weren't telling the character goodbye. If he is DOD property though, I guess they wouldn't just let him go.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Maybe he'll become an electric monk.

Hah!

Now I must go find my copy of Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency and re-read.

The Guardian has been blogging each one of the Torchwood episodes. Here is their blog for Day 5:

There are a couple of mild Who spoilers in the comments.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Several folks from the Whedonesque board thought TW:CoW was excellent, and the series was rubbish or just meh. I'm decoding that there are two kinds of people: those who loved the series and hated the 5-parter, and the opposite. I've yet to come across anyone who liked both.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I've finally got all the episodes ahemmed, I plan on watching them tomorrow. As long as I don't have to help my daughter move.

I have the episodes ahemmed, but not yet the courage to watch because...

two kinds of people: those who loved the series and hated the 5-parter, and the opposite.

I loved the series.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I think the show was quite brave, doesn't take the expected, perhaps American, route. And if you watch Day Five and look back on how much you loathed a characters choice earlier on, it's almost inevitable what we end up with.
