Oh and she's from a family of cops too.
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Torchwood 2x9: so far jolly good fun
and she wants to get into narcotics.
She's like a pussy pre-Life Dani, before she got into undercover work. I can't stop comparing Eva to Dani and thinking how awesome Dani is. Although I thought Dani was already f***ing awesome to begin with. Like, Scully awesome. Possibly more awesome than Scully /sacri-- sacra-- blasphemy.
Oh yeah, Dani is totally awesome and the way that she and Charlie work together - also totally awesome.
And yet Nikolaj is hot like burning.
I enjoyed Zuleikha Robinson as Gaia, in a love-to-hate sorta way, but here she seems to be playing someone young and naive and inexperienced, which I didn't expect. and am not liking, and I don't know if that's because of the characters I've seen her play before, or because I'm comparing her to Dani Reese/Sarah Shahi, or because the character just sucks.
Of course, I'll give the second ep a chance and see how they settled in.
Is there one Torchwood tonight or two?
Torchwood 2.09: Best wedding episode ever! It reminded me of the Angel episode "Expecting," but it didn't suck. And I was actually fooled when the shapeshifter was disguised as Jack. This season's really shaped up to be a lot better than the first, but I'm not gonna get too excited about next week's episode, written by Peter J. Hammond. His "Small Worlds" is still my least favorite episode of the show.
Torchwood 2x9: Rhys is such a keeper! Lots of fun stuff. Ianto shopping for the wedding gown. The parents were wonderful. Big Gun. Just so much fun. Next week looks like it could be quite creepy, but it is subject matter I find creepy anyway. Eeep.
This made me laugh about NA:
Think of it as "Life meets Highlander: The series" without the swordfights and the good writing (Life, not Highlander).
I think the thread originally started for the hoYay and the porn, and it was kind of a coincidence that the SciFi stuff (i.e. Smallville, Highlander) were slashtastic.
This. Nobody sat down and said 'Hey, let's build a single thread for discussing current genre TV that's not Jossverse!' - this thread is what we got when we squashed several existing threads together, on the basis that the shows that were being discussed were mostly being discussed for the slash by mostly the same people, and because we were trying to cut down on the total number of threads at that time. Sure, Smallville was airing, as was SG:1, but Farscape, Due South, Highlander etc were not - and our engagement was primarily with the texts as sources for fanfic. Slashy fanfic, for the most part. It was all about the HoYay.

You folks with your non-slashy appreciation of TV are most definitely welcome, and these days the place involves far less porn than was present in the days of the Pansexual Prettyboy Orgy collective, but make no mistake - Boxed Set started out as a place where all the fic-reading and fic-writing slashers' threads could be condensed into one.
Gradually, since there's no longer fresh Jossverse stuff to discuss, the nature of this section of the board has changed, and other shows have been given their own threads for watch'n'post type stuff. That's fab. But that's not how this thread was conceived.
(And I do agree that, even were it not so, Due South is highly quirky magical realism, with plots hinging on messages from dead people and magical deaf wolves. Sounds like genre to me. But regardless of its genre-ness - it's a SLASH fandom. And that's why it's here.)
