A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Utopian and dystopian fiction are subsets of speculative fiction
The meaning attributed to "speculative fiction" bugs me more than "genre" ever can. Isn't it at least a teeny little bit redundant?
I hadn't quite processed "straight-to-DVD" correctly. Darn it! I don't need to own the wrapup of the Ori.
::toddles off to netflix::
Hey! What's this "watch now" business? In addition to having three disks out I can watch online at no extra charge? That makes no sense.
New Amsterdam did rather well in the ratings:
9:00 FOX 9.0/13 5.1/12 14,937,000
9:30 FOX 7.5/11 4.0/10 12,373,000
Oh dear. I want SCC to come back.
Shit, that's really good. I figured nobody would get it.
I would guess thirty nine, since that seems to be the dog's name
F'duh.
Now
I get it. I was wondering why the dog's name was a number...
I know this isn't really a valid reason but I'm for discussing Jericho here since most of my browsing via iPhone and therefore can't read the discussion in Natter.
I too really hope SCC comes back.
Just watched New Amsterdam, and it seems a lot like Life except the cop is immortal rather than a zen master. I also think it's probably better suited for procedurals.
Also, I'm pretty sure that the Lenni-Lenape who inhabited pre-Times Square did not live in tepees.
Totally loses when you compare the casting of the leads.
I think that the procedural aspects of the show are only a framework to hang the real story on - which is his search for his one true love and the end of his immortality.
I'd heard the
Life
comparison over at TWoP and can sorta see it, in a poor man's poor-man's sorta way, and then I just think "You are no Dani Reese, I know Dani Reese, and you, missy, are no Dani Reese." /misquotes horribly
and now I just despise Eva Marquez. Upon rewatch, and sober, NA is rather awful. Nikolaj is still delicious.
That said, I agree with sumi that it's more structured around the sci-fi/fantasy aspect of solving the case of his immortality (One Twu Wuv!!!!!), than it is solving the case of the crime-of-the-week.
It's the small swarthy female partner that makes it Life-like, and pretty much nothing else.
I mean, aside from the cop show thing.
