What le nubian said. Especially with "Catherine" saying she's expendable to him, and his new sense of self-preservation.
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
But a pang about Owen? Would have thought that UNPOSSIBLE based on that episode. And yet...there it is.
I watched that ep again, Frank, and was just hit with what arcs all those characters took. And yes, on the pang about Owen-- god, but he was such a prick back in the early days.
I only got caught up with TSCC last night, and I'm gobsmacked about the whole thing, and so proud the show was almost off-handed about Derek's death while at the same time making it so important to the characters.
And watching the ending again, I realized that Sarah's fight with the cops at the end wasn't just struggle for the sake of struggle, panic or anything like that -- she knew John was right behind her, and she wanted to make enough of a diversion that he could get away clean.
Shades of a mother bird pretending to have a broken wing to draw a fox away from her nest.
I almost mentioned this last week but forgot, but this week cinched it. Silas' right-hand-woman Tomasina reminds me so much of Zoe. Stunningly beautiful black woman playing a steadfast, terse, efficient, level-headed character, and then she mentions "Serenity". I know they mentioned it last week, but this week I was getting Zoe/Mal/Firefly vibes like mad!
oh that's interesting. I see it.
Ack! Macaulay Culkin next week? Kid has not grown up well. Staring at Prince Jack's sickly, sniveling face is bad enough.
chocolate cake: why did the reverend decide against going to the meeting? What was the meaning of the royal flag (or smokestack)?
Wes Studi, noes!
I watched Kings for the first time tonight, due to TAR being bumped for the Country Music Awards. That is some crazy shit over there!
Now, David- Mary Sue wet blanket or what???
David is so the least intriguing character, although I'd rather watch him be Marty Stu than watch Jack's constantly runny nose and bloodshot weepy eyes. Writers: being good and destined by greatness does not equal boring. All the other characters are so fascinating (minus Michele)... maybe with a better actor? But it's the writing as well, and I'll also give a boo to the directing. But a better actor could at least add *some* internal thought processes and depth to David. I was really hoping he'd get shot and hospitalized for the next several eps. He's only interesting because of Silas' interest in him.
I think writers often have a difficult time creating a virtuous character who is interesting.
I mean Neo was perhaps the least interesting character in the Matrix trilogy; goodness knows Luke Skywalker was as well. They probably needed to write the character (and cast the role) as David = Hans Solo/Indiana Jones. Which might have been an interesting take.
