A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Well, it makes more sense than the Brit version, in a way, even if it is a bit rubbish. I take it there will be no US Ashes to Ashes. This is probably a good thing.
And speaking of which... there was an AtoA trailer on BBC1 last night. "Coming Soon".... (probably mid-April or so).
AND I saw the Doctor Who "Planet of the Dead" trailer which was posted here yesterday, so it's official. It's airing on Easter Saturday, 11th April, at 6:45 pm British time.
ita, the last shot was of a 1973-looking white shoe stepping onto Mars. Rather than space boots.
Oh! they could have had him wear a pair of Moon Boots!
Sounds like a Tanith Lee book. In fact, I think one of her books may have ended exactly like that.
How did the UK one end, by the way?
Sam gets back to 2008 but can't deal so he jumps off a roof.
You can decide if he winds up in 1973 or not.
Of course, Ashes to Ashes says that he did and that he also was in a coma in the present and then dies. (And dies in the past before Drake gets there.)

That's... AWFUL. What the hell? I mean sure, the guy did try to destroy the world using former humans from another time, but... what's that? Oh. Never mind.
Still awful, though.

Not just a shoe, but a loafer. And what were obviously polyester trousers.
I missed what happened before this ending, though, so I don't know if it being yet another fantasy reality is a viable option or not.

that's not entirely the end. he jumps off the roof and then we have him back in 1973 where he left off. he saves Annie, Gene, Chris and Ray. then he and Annie kiss they all continue to fight crime. i didn't love the UK ending, but it was miles better than the US.
Oh, that's right.
But in 2008, he's in a coma and then he dies and he has also died in 1981 - because it's 7 years later. But it wasn't 7 years later in 2008.
Confusing.

The intention of the creators was that it was all in his head and that everything that happens to him in 1973 after he jumps off the roof happens in the instant before he dies from the impact.
My problem with the UK ending wasn't that he jumped, but that it seemed to be presented as a reasonable action. Whereas my reaction was "Oh boo hoo! Police work in 2006 involves too many bureaucratic meetings. Life was so much more interesting in 1973 so I'm going to jump off a roof!" Gimme a break. I get that he was depressed, but that's what therapy is for.
Ahahaha, I remember this debate well back when it originally aired.
I am much less emotionally involved by now, thank god. Man, I was so pissed at that ending.
