I sometimes wonder how I'd feel about BSG if I didn't read forums. I'm such a freaking sponge.
But I do know that once upon a time I was such a big Lee girl, until I realized in the second season that they had no idea what to write for him, and ended up hating most of his air time, when there was any. I still adore season one the best. Back then I liked a whole lot of characters. Now I'm still intrigued, even though I'm not sure why, beyond completism (Adama and Roslin 4eva!!11) but I'm not actually behind any of the characters. And I usually need at least one person to root for to get behind a story. The characters aren't grey and morally ambiguous to me, they just flipflop for the most part. Not in opposite directions, but in ways that don't add up without too much handwaving for such an "intelligently written show". Too much padding and filler when there were important, relevant and interesting things to explore.
That said, is it Friday yet?!
I remember having a big boost in my "meh" about Lee during Baltar's trial, when Lee took the stand. I thought that was a great performance by Jamie Bamber. But, yeah, Lee's character just kind of wafts most of the time. Kind of a shame. But I don't care! Because I love it, and love is blind.

I still want someone, one day, maybe after Caprica has dished out some good footage, do a BSG vid to Paul Simon's "Obvious Child". Because whoa almost-taiko drums/awesome beat and cool apt lyrics (in a vague way).

A friend and I watched 15 episodes of Galactica over 2 days. But I still think it's a black comedy, so we giggled a lot.
I found out that one of my friends has all of the seasons of BSG on DVD. I so need to borrow them.
I adored BSG when it first came out, but then the family drama started and I couldn't handle both BSG and Mom's chemo at the same time. Which doesn't take away from the show one little bit, but I do think the viewer context has to be right for it.

Me, too. I broke down and bought the DVD when I saw Amazon had copies for under $2*. (Well, plus $6 or so shipping. Still that's less than $10 for cheesetastic roaring-snake glory.)
*And now it looks like the lowest price is $2.40. Still, not bad.
I never liked Baltar, but it's gotten to the point that any ending that doesn't involve his being drawn and quartered will be unsatisfactory to me.
Ginger is me. absolutely. The highlight of the "10 things you need to know about BSG" was how little Baltar they featured. I absolutely cannot stand Baltar. There is no redemption arc for him in my eyes. I just want Roslin to kill him.
I think the show is very grim. I guess I don't really mind that, but I wish plotting had been tighter. The final 4/5 and Starbuck as angel (or whatever the fuck she is) feels like an asspull to me.
I respect BSG more than I enjoy it, and I think a lot of that has to do with the grim tone.
This is my reaction; much like what I had to the bulk of Buffy Season 6. Well-written, well-acted, good production values, utterly joyless.
Maybe if Ron Moore threw in a musical episode, I'd watch regularly.
