I'll be fine. I'll be your bounty, Jubal Early. And I'll just fade away.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Last I heard there was no set date for going back. At least 2 or so months out, though.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Are people really getting worked up over time paradoxes?

Have you met us?

Hee!

But I was surprised when memfault mentioned that people got cranky about the menstrual crank disparity with Buffy continuity. I mean, 'kay, that would have been an awesome thing to retain - but it's not something I'd really expect of US telly. Plus - hello, whole different actress. I don't know - I kind of think that when you're looking at a different cast, it's already a different 'verse.

However, I do entirely appreciate that mileage varies on this one.

Also? I wouldn't put it past Rusty to produce an all-singing Doctor Who or Torchwood - probably as a Comic Relief special.

Yeah. We used to get that pretty randomly at the Bronze. I just mentioned it as an example because I found it so out of the blue every time someone asked about it, and yet? They did.

I'm pretty forgiving of a lot of things in movies to TV adaptations. But the Terminator movies are just so legendary that I have issues with tinkering with the dates set in the movies -- which, honestly, cover just what? Four days in Sarah Connor's life? It can't be that hard to skew closely to them.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

MM, I can bring up my DVDs next time I visit (which I swear I will once the play is over). I'd even be willing to leave them, provided I had some kind of blood oath that they would be returned to me intact.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Yeah. The big change appears to be the moving of T2. If they'd stayed with the 1995 date and John at 10, they could have given them several more years of peace, say, 5, bringing them to 2000, then have the time-jump to 2008.

Maybe they felt that five years of peace was too many? Or was it that they'd have passed the original date of Judgment Day and Sarah would have assumed all the risks were over?

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

But I was surprised when memfault mentioned that people got cranky about the menstrual crank disparity with Buffy continuity.

I always felt that was better "joke in a film" than "continuing plot point in a series" so I was pretty comfortable with its forgetting.

Someone noted on another board I was reading that they even added a couple shots of Adam to the credits

(Actually, I mentioned it in this very thread, but nevermind....)

Goodness, I had completely forgotten about 'Superstar' till you guys mentioned it, but yes, of course.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

(Actually, I mentioned it in this very thread, but nevermind....)

Whoops, I missed that. Was it a white-fonted post? That may be why I did.

eta I saw it on Salon, where I still lurk.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

I have some thoughts on "Adam" that I'm happy to discuss... ok, so what did Captain Spike say to Jack as he was going into the rift? "I know where Grey is"? I'm wondering if since Jack had to burn the happiest day of his life out of his memory to get rid of Adam, if that means that all memories of Grey and his dad are gone?

Re: Rhys seeing Adam. That could be something that brings Adam back at some point, or since Adam didn't touch Rhys and physically insert himself into his memories, that doesn't count?

And OMG, Ianto. His scenes with Adam and Jack were terrifying.

Re: Ianto's move from butler dude to full on team member in charge of Teh Snark, I wonder how much of that had to do with Lisa? When hiding something like that, I'd think it would be best to fade into the background as much as possible, and once it's gone, once that reason for living was taken from him, he had nothing else to do and nowhere else to go except Jack and Torchwood (respectively).

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

once it's gone, once that reason for living was taken from him, he had nothing else to do and nowhere else to go except Jack and Torchwood (respectively).

I think it was also the case that Jack (and the others) realized how they'd been treating him. Ianto said some pretty cutting things in "Cyberwoman" about how he was just expected to clean up everyone's shit and not ask questions, and that no one had ever asked him anything about his life.
