Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

It's available on DVD, and iffen you can't go through Netflix/whatever, I have VHS tapes if you want to borrow them.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I live in fear that RTD's Joss fanboy-ness will result in a musical episode of Doctor Who at some point.

Replace "fear" with "hope" and Matt is me!

I live in fear happy anticipation that RTD's Joss fanboy-ness will result in a musical episode of Doctor Who at some point.

Oh look, turns out Dana is me instead.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

I have VHS tapes if you want to borrow them.

Ah, magnetic media! How quaint.

Seriously, thanks for the offer, but when our last VCR died we went all DVD. We no longer have the ability to play tapes.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Could go on and on 'bout specific eps, but I'd probably be repeating 500 posts worth of stuff. So...I won't.

Actually, since we're off schedule with the UK airings, the conversations a bit disjointed, so I'd personally LOVE IT if someone w/could spark some discussion to what's aired in the US.

"Would you mind not farting while I'm saving the world?" - Doctor Who

Anyone heard anything regarding production for Eureka?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Last I heard there was no set date for going back. At least 2 or so months out, though.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Are people really getting worked up over time paradoxes?

Have you met us?

Hee!

But I was surprised when memfault mentioned that people got cranky about the menstrual crank disparity with Buffy continuity. I mean, 'kay, that would have been an awesome thing to retain - but it's not something I'd really expect of US telly. Plus - hello, whole different actress. I don't know - I kind of think that when you're looking at a different cast, it's already a different 'verse.

However, I do entirely appreciate that mileage varies on this one.

Also? I wouldn't put it past Rusty to produce an all-singing Doctor Who or Torchwood - probably as a Comic Relief special.

Yeah. We used to get that pretty randomly at the Bronze. I just mentioned it as an example because I found it so out of the blue every time someone asked about it, and yet? They did.

I'm pretty forgiving of a lot of things in movies to TV adaptations. But the Terminator movies are just so legendary that I have issues with tinkering with the dates set in the movies -- which, honestly, cover just what? Four days in Sarah Connor's life? It can't be that hard to skew closely to them.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

MM, I can bring up my DVDs next time I visit (which I swear I will once the play is over). I'd even be willing to leave them, provided I had some kind of blood oath that they would be returned to me intact.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

It can't be that hard to skew closely to them.

Yeah. The big change appears to be the moving of T2. If they'd stayed with the 1995 date and John at 10, they could have given them several more years of peace, say, 5, bringing them to 2000, then have the time-jump to 2008.

Maybe they felt that five years of peace was too many? Or was it that they'd have passed the original date of Judgment Day and Sarah would have assumed all the risks were over?
