Funny thing about black and white. You mix it together and you get gray. And it doesn't matter how much white you try and put back in, you're never gonna get anything but gray.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Thoughts so far: Katara is totally awesome. Toph? Also awesome like an awesome thing that inspires awe. I love the fact that Sokka isn't just a fall guy, or comic relief - that they've let him grow and develop and mature just as the others have, and that he does get to have moments when he's all heroic, take charge and idea-having. He isn't the Zeppo. This is nice.

This is all true!

I continue to adore Zuko and Uncle Iroh, and am also thoroughly enjoying Azula, May and Ti-Lee (because this is what you'd get if Daria was an evil princess).

Mai and Ty Lee, FYI. Dangerous Ladies FTW!

And I have to say - I was UTTERLY SLAIN when Aang's Fire Master Teacher made his 'Hi, I'll be your fire teacher?' speech.

The practice scene was hysterical. So brilliant. Oh my God. I smile just thinking about it.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

le nubian - I think I'm around episode 16? Going to catch a few more eps tonight - quite likely finish of the disk.

Yes! And, my God, he had more lines in that episode than in THE ENTIRE 3 SEASONS PRECEDING, I swear! It was terribly disarming. Although I was rather choked by the way that he kept trying to think what Uncle Iroh would have said to help him in various situations. And indeed by the whole business of making and serving tea for the gang. Gah. It slays me.

I really want to know what happened to Zuko's mother. For a while I was even speculating wildly that she was the same person as Katara's mother, before realising that this definitely couldn't work. And I want to know where Uncle is! For he is awesome like a thing that is awesome! And Zuko misses him! And, God, I really don't want him (or Zuko) to have to take one for the team!

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

some hours later

OMG! Yay for Zuko's reunion with his Uncle! And for Team Geezer! And for the all the midair highjinx in airships! I particularly loved the way that Sokka got to be all heroic, and Suki really is the best girlfriend EVAH! And it's so nice that Sokka has an awesome girlfriend! And that we have the whole Zuko V Azula thing, with Azula being the badass enemy and - really, you've got to give this show mad props for its take on gender roles. Oh, and another YAY for Zuko and Mai getting back together! They're so damn adorable!

And, OMG, how could I have forgotten that crazy episode with the amateur dramatics! And fandom! !!!111!!!!

And the whole Deathstar Canteen moment aboard the fireship, with the supposed birthday! I almost peed myself laughing!

Also, genuinely hadn't seen Aang's sneaky choice to turn Darth Firelord into Hostile Seventeen coming. Nice move, little bald dude! (And how thoroughly badass was AvatarState!Aaang, with the whizzy hamsterball of elemental power? Pretty thoroughly gosh-darned badass!

In conclusion: Avatar is for the win.

(And I still heart Toph!)

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Was that Flight of the Conchords playing on Chuck?

move out and draw fire

OK, Fay's ahead of me on Avatar because we've had to really ratchet back on watching. So I just skipped your posts, Fay.

We just finished the ep with Roku explaining what happened to him.

Here's why we've slowed our rate of consumption (other than not wanting the series to end):

1. We sent Mal to time out a couple weeks ago. When I went to release him, he turned his face away and said "I'm banished. Like Zuko. I need a reclaim my honor, but now I'm banished."

2. A couple nights ago Mal was really upset about something. I asked him what, and he said, "I need to find my destiny."

"Uh...okay."

"But I need it!"

"Sweetie, your destiny is something you have to find for yourself."

"But I want my destiny! Aang has a destiny, and Zuko has a destiny, and I have to have a destiny."

(pause) "You're going to have to wait until you are a teenager like Aang and Zuko to get a destiny."

(hands me his foam sword) "Take this to my quarters."

Raq, I've never seen Avatar, so I have no idea who any of these characters you're talking about are, but I am filled with mad love for your Mal.

Yeah, she was awesome. I'm also wondering what the deal is with Shirley's "daughter". Mini-me T-1000, the original's real daughter or ?
