You know, it's funny. We went to war never looking to come back, but it's the real world I couldn't survive.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

So I've been mainlining Avatar. Have watched Books one and two, and now have only four or five 'chapters' left before I get to the end of the series.

Thoughts so far: Katara is totally awesome. Toph? Also awesome like an awesome thing that inspires awe. I love the fact that Sokka isn't just a fall guy, or comic relief - that they've let him grow and develop and mature just as the others have, and that he does get to have moments when he's all heroic, take charge and idea-having. He isn't the Zeppo. This is nice. I continue to adore Zuko and Uncle Iroh, and am also thoroughly enjoying Azula, May and Ti-Lee (because this is what you'd get if Daria was an evil princess).

....actually, thinking about it, as with Buffy, I seem to be all over the supporting characters more than the lead. Not that I dislike the lead! Aang is cool, and likeable, and I've enjoyed watching his story unfold. But I'm more invested in the supporting characters.

And I have to say - I was UTTERLY SLAIN when Aang's Fire Master Teacher made his 'Hi, I'll be your fire teacher?' speech.

Slain.

Dead.

Bless.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I watched the 2nd and 3rd eps of Fringe today. I wasn't sure who the guy in the plastic tent was. I was worried that it was the guy that had been tapped into the ghost network, or possibly the one who was shot at the station.

eta which show I was talking about.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Fay, I am not quite where you are, but I think I have 10 more eps and the final movie before I'm finished.

We watch a disc a week, so we'll be done in 2 weeks I figure.

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

the guy in the plastic tent was Olivia's partner/lover that was killed. at the end of the pilot he was taken to Massive Dynamics and the red-headed lady asked the guy wheeling him in how long he'd been dead. i think he said 5 hours or some such and she replied with, "interrogate him".

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

really, tiggy? The guy in the third ep in the tent seemed too slight to be Olivia's BF. I was thinking that it might be the guy shot in the train station, but either way, I didn't get the big dunDunDUN music at the sight of him, whoever he was. I mean, I'm still unsure myself, and am willing to be wrong, but even if this had been the second ep, and they'd only had an hour to interrogate Olivia's BF before he was All Dead, then I don't understand the timeline. Unless the dunDunDUN had to do with the fact that BF was still alive?

i'm positive, Juliebird. the name on the computer screen is John Scott and i'd recognize Mark Valley anywhere. well...as long as CFerg and Joel Gretsch aren't in the room. heh.

they made it sound like he had some kind of hard drive installed in his brain somewhere and they'd been working on linking it up with their system. for what...i have no idea.

So who is John Scott?

Wait, are you saying it was the boyfriend?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

This is all true!

Mai and Ty Lee, FYI. Dangerous Ladies FTW!

The practice scene was hysterical. So brilliant. Oh my God. I smile just thinking about it.

le nubian - I think I'm around episode 16? Going to catch a few more eps tonight - quite likely finish of the disk.

Yes! And, my God, he had more lines in that episode than in THE ENTIRE 3 SEASONS PRECEDING, I swear! It was terribly disarming. Although I was rather choked by the way that he kept trying to think what Uncle Iroh would have said to help him in various situations. And indeed by the whole business of making and serving tea for the gang. Gah. It slays me.

I really want to know what happened to Zuko's mother. For a while I was even speculating wildly that she was the same person as Katara's mother, before realising that this definitely couldn't work. And I want to know where Uncle is! For he is awesome like a thing that is awesome! And Zuko misses him! And, God, I really don't want him (or Zuko) to have to take one for the team!
