Tara: Do you have any books on robots? Giles: Oh, yes, dozens. There's a lot of research to be done in order to--no, I'm lying. Haven't got squat. I just like watching Xander squirm.

'Get It Done'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

nefarious eye makeup.

Oh, yes. Okay, yeah. I don't like the new version of Claudia, either, nor her makeup or her wardrobe. And given the way the season plays out, it strikes me that the alternate-reality switcheroonie was done merely to be able to dress that actress more provocatively. Okay, they got that spiffy new set, too--but the likelihood of that woman's very existence is preposterous.

Speaking of preposterously bad British tv, rumor has it the new Merlin is very very bad.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

the likelihood of that woman's very existence is preposterous.

You know, I'd been giving the show a good pass for seeming to be paleo...whateverly accurate, as far as google could tell me, but then they pulled out the magic killer dodo worm. The people bits have always been weird, though. I do have a crush on Stephen nonetheless.

I wonder if I should bother reactivating my account and downloading Merlin...I'm assuming "bad" means "worse than Robin Hood." But...ASH!

I think I'll wait.

I kind of don't dislike Keller personality-wise so much as completely not buy her as a medical chief of staff, what with the sucking absence of gravitas and leadership skills. If she were a hotshot prodigy surgeon that was interacting with the main characters because she was good at patching injuries up rather than a multi-discipline genius in charge of everything, we'd be golden.

Well, except that the writing is telegraphing her character as the hot trophy babe for authorial insert Rodney so loudly (without actually bothering to, say, let them date before declarations of love got handed down) that Alexander Graham Bell is yelling from his grave for them to tone it down.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Head's up: Merlin starts on BBC1 at 7:30 pm British time tonight. ASH, Richard Wilson (the doctor from "The Empty Child") and Eve Myles all star, and if the kid playing Merlin looks familiar, it's because he's also a Who alumnus ("Midnight"). Advance reviews are a bit mixed, though.

Oooh! My recently-ex boss's neice, Angel, plays Guinevere in this, apparently! Which isn't to say it won't be pants, but I'm still rooting for them.

Art Crawl!!!

And it's coming to NBC mid-season.

Watched Primeval. The raptors were nice. I don't get why the tranqs didn't work on them properly.

I still think that with the bat-rats from the future in the past there would be no humans. Ohh, maybe in a future episode Cutter will discover that his colleagues only look like h. sapiens sapiens and that they are actually rat-bats.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Yeah, you think? I'm a pretty enthusiastic Rodney fan, but honestly, are we really supposed to buy that she'd pick Rodney over Ronon? Hellloooo, wish fulfillment.

Jewel Staite insisted at DragonCon that it made perfect sense. I think most of the audience disagreed.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Maybe Ronon's a really bad kisser.

(Yeah, I got nothing.)

I can see how Rodney's good nerdy qualities could appeal to someone more than Ronon's good laconic he-man qualities, despite the obvious inequity in physical appeal. However, since the former are bundled with egotism, hypochondria, and enough whinging to put an Emo 14-year-old girl to shame, there's no way in hell.

Rodney gives me more WFTH moments than any protagonist on any show I've watched in ten years. How do the writers not see this?
