I think so. It seemed like some kind of shockwave or something. And was anyone reminded of Nightmare on Elm Street when Carter brought the remote back from the previous day.

From what the time guy said, as long as you were totally in the ultraindigo field when he sent the photon back, you were golden. Carter only got partial exposure when he opened the door the first day. So time was pulling different parts of his body in different directions every time the day looped. That could definitely tear skin and break bones.
