Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I've not been impressed by any of the ones I've seen, but I suppose it was workmanlike. I missed out on the ones I've heard the best reviews of (the police station episode and the most recent Wendigo-themed one) as well as Colin's.

The Showtime version of the series had better quality IMHO. The Clive Barker episode was nicely atmospheric, and Carpenter's "Cigarette Burns" actually lived up to the Masters of Horror hype.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I liked Colin's well-enough, but I thought it was directorially a bit too reserved. The Village one was rendered impotent by its obviousness--there was a moment when the lease was being signed where I hit pause and read the damned thing, and lost all sympathy for the idiots. The zombie one was the opposite--too unobvious. I didn't buy the level of cognition she was displaying.

Wendigo was visually the scariest, I think. Perhaps just because the face eater was filmed darkly, and this one was really well lit. Still, both similar and nasty, but neither left me chilled.

Oh, and the one with the people from Psych was just dumb.

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

Good point quester. I don't remember Mary McDonnell being on there either. That may be my own crush though.

It read very much like a fangirl list, esp with the JA at the top. I suspect the poll got whipped around a bunch of SPN communities.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

Not to mention the quote about Jared Padalecki was from a username "jennyluvsjared", or something to that effect, and I'd bet a dollar the user's real name isn't Jenny.

It did seem awfully skewed toward the guys—four women out of 15 people, and only one of those in the top 10? Even so, I do have to admit that "Sexiest People of SciFi" is a better forum for fangirl bias than a poll having to do with acting or overall show quality.

Nu-uh! DF and I both have Roslin crushes. She is my fave on the show.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

"Blink" won the Hugo for Best Dramatic Presentation, short form.

(I'm not really here..shhh)

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I'm doing a lesson (with 4th and 5th graders) in January on "civilization" and why it's a loaded term (and, more largely, about being aware of historical context and your own preconceptions).

I know that at least one of the Q episodes of STTNG would be helpful. I'm betting there's a Who or two that would also be good.

Anybody have any suggestions?
