A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

really, I could do with a little less of this "He's like fire" crap about the Doctor.

I love the "He's like fire" crap!

"Look me up" - that was much more effective than "He's like fire."

I love that too, though.

Well, I'm sincerely glad that it works for you. It was almost too much for me in The Family of Blood, but the kid sold it (good wee actor, although now inextricably linked in my head with the spectacularly awful Arthurianfic extravaganza that was The Last Legion . And since almost everyone in that movie seemed to have played an Austen character (well, or Gandhi) at some point, I also half way expect him to end up playing Mr Darcy in 15 years' time). Anyway, yes - I was willing to grant them that, because within the context it worked.

But this: "...You need to be careful. Cos you know the Doctor. He’s wonderful. He’s brilliant. But he’s like fire. Stand too close and people get burnt" - this just made me wince with its cheesiness.

Which is a shame, because there was some very nice dialogue in The Sontaran Stratagem, so it stood out.

edited because I do know the name of the movie, and the legion were not really LOST, even though they were stuck on a small island far from their friends and families, with random shit and possible monsters and lurking foes...

I really love Bad-Ass Doctor who just seethes menace. Tennant does Seethe better than CE did, IMO.

And whilst I'm at it, I should also add: Colin Salmon! Still hot!

As much as I loved Casino Royale and Daniel Craig, I still wish they had cast Colin Salmon as Bond. He would have been frickin' amazing in the part. Too bad he was already in the films as M's #2 guy.

Punishingly Intricate

People - SHE IS HIS WIFE.

Yeah, I didn't get why there'd be any confusion over this either.

Oh, I was thinking of the other one. The big flowery description of him where he's like fire and water and death and life and everything and whatever.

I always liked Clive's perspective, from the first episode ("Rose"), who pointed out to Rose that the Doctor's one constant companion is death. That's the thing that has stuck with me from both Classic Who and New Who--very few eps end with no one dying.

Dwelling on that point does get cheesy, but it is nice to be reminded of that fact from time to time.

Compassionately intolerant

Like Fay, I've been mainlining the 9th and 10th Doctors.

Having seen pretty much everything youtube has to offer, as well as some other outlets, I have a couple of thoughts about David Tennant.

Whoa. While his range is a bit limited (most roles come off looking the same) he definitely has some depth. I'm guessing his Hamlet deserves the praise it is getting.

Also? Regardless of its status as a kids show (which still confuses me) it's a good thing there isn't more snogging because, really?, he's an open-mouth kisser and...yuck.

edited: To add to my patheticness...I didn't mention that DT looks a LOT like an old boyfriend...exact same mouth...but the bf was 2 inches taller. Plus? Tennant and I share a birthday. jeebus...how sad am I?

But those eyes, that smile and those hands. I'm a goner.

Anybody have an line on streaming Viva Blackpool? There isn't much on youtube and the regular sites I haunt...surf/hulu/tvokay don't seem to feature it.

Musical Supranos? Whodda thunk it. (pun inteneded)

Yeah, PC - I think they sold that whole 'fire and ice' thing in Family of Blood, partly because of the actor and partly because of the context. It worked. But Martha Jones's leaden fire metaphor, coming as it did straight after telling Donna that her (Martha's) mother, her father and her brother and sister had been tortured for a year because of the Doctor - I think that was lazy writing. That exchange should have been moving, not trite.

Dwelling on that point does get cheesy, but it is nice to be reminded of that fact from time to time.

See, I think that they're in danger of overdoing the whole Emo!Doctor thing at times, but on the whole I'm good with it. Still - showing's better than telling.
