I'm totally spoiled for any other writers, now, she's just so good.
'Serenity'
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
although, I have to say, this time around I didn't quite buy the psychology of The Master and his motivations for sticking around. But, still, awesome plotty goodness and wonderful voices.
I felt that was a bit forced, too, but still enjoyable. I'll take it over Ten/Rose, anyday.
All of it, totally enjoyably. Yes.
And speaking of Who, I've been rewatching some of the first season, and I think DT may have eclipsed my love for CE (gasp!), but I think perhaps that the writing has also improved for the most part, which may have had a role to play in that eclipse. Although, say what one will of Rose: sure, she may have hopped on board because she was bored and had the youthful attitude of indestructibility (sp?!), but she had some moxie, too, and an opinion --I'm thinking specifically of Dalek when she called the Doctor on his murderous behavior and felt compassion for the Dalek (Caan?). She wasn't all giggles and chips. More on that in a few weeks.
serial: and now I'm trying to track down the flower references in Time Monster and Buddhist koans and am coming up dry/confused, in regards to alt season 5. Any old school Who fans have a clue? (Is it Old School or Classic Who? Which is preferred? Does it even matter?)
Dalek (Caan?)
Not Caan. Just a Dalek. (Most of them don't have names.)
Caan led the Cult of Skaro after Dalek Sec became a "Human Dalek" in the New York episodes.
They all look the same to me.
Who news from IMDb:
Hollywood screenwriter Steven Moffat has turned down a multi-million dollar contract with legendary director Steven Spielberg - to work on British TV show Dr Who.
Moffat was offered a $2 million (GBP1 million) contract by Spielberg to write the first two scripts for his forthcoming Tintin trilogy, based on the comic-strip hero.
But Moffat has now turned down the offer in favour of a position on the cult sci-fi show - replacing writer Russell T. Davies, who will step down within the next year.
And Moffat insists he jumped at the chance to fulfill his boyhood dream of writing Dr Who scripts.
He says, "I know a lot of people won't understand it but I've been dreaming of writing for Dr Who since I was seven. There are no bad feelings between Spielberg and me, but Dr Who has to come before Hollywood. I am working on scripts to be filmed next year. Russell T. Davies is doing four specials next, then my shows will begin. I talked to Steven and he completely understood. Steven is a fan and he understood my passion for the series completely."
They all look the same to me.
Speciesist.
As much as I'd like to see Moffat's take on Tintin, I'm psyched he turned that down, as Speilberg would have more control of the script(s), and I'm really glad to have him running Who.
I wish that they would say when we get these:
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA SEASON 4.5 WEBISODES
With the 4th and final season of SCI FI's award-winning series coming to a close, fans can rejoice with Galactica Webisodes returning in the weeks leading up to the final 10 episodes. SCIFI.COM and Universal Cable Production will produce ten 2-3 minute serialized webisode chapters that complement and enhance the action broadcast on SCI FI. The storyline will give viewers more insight into characters and events from the 4th season.
(And no word on the Farscape webisodes.)
And they've announced three new original series of which only one is a scripted show:
OUTER SPACE ASTRONAUTS (working title) (Five 30-Minute Episodes)
In the future, many courageous souls journey to the far reaches of the galaxy, seeking knowledge, adventure, and the thrill of exploration. They are integral to the survival of the human race and truly have 'the right stuff.' The rest are the Outer Space Astronauts. The slovenly Captain Ripley commands the "space-ially" challenged crew of the O.S.S. Oklahoma as they go about their daily routine of working in space. The show, created by Russell Barrett, is a combination of live action, 3D and 2D animation. Executive Producers are Barrett, Scott Puckett and David O. Russell (Three Kings).
