From wikipedia about "yeoman":
In the Royal Navy and the US Navy, a petty officer with usually clerical duties.
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Oh, did she ever. I just adored the fact that mirror verse!Kira was essentially in love with her other self.
what the hell is a [this] when it's at home?
I have an unholy love for this phrase...since Jonathan Creek introduced me to it. I can't imagine its origins but it just makes me smile.
Yeah, the ST protocols of rank where regularly confusing to me...not the assumed boundaries one might expect in a militaristic function like ship running. I think I just chalked it up to the 'hey man' influence of the 60s.

She is basically standing around with a steno pad all the time. I guess the idea that they'd normally have a guy there is...well, the Trek that got approved is so much more sexist than the pilot that failed, with a female #1 in long pants who fires a phaser and even the damsel in distress picks up a morning star and whacks at the bad guy.

Some parts cracked me up....
Things I loved about Nurse Chapel: she wasn't particularly glamorous; she didn't tend to scream and faint; and in her introductory episode "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" when there was a cave-in she pragmatically steadied herself against a rock instead of clutching at Kirk for rescue.
I do wish we'd gotten to see a series with Number One rather than the good nurse, however.
I guess the idea that they'd normally have a guy there is...
pretty lame, yeah.
Trivia only important to me. The woman who played Yoeman Rand, Grace Whitney, grew up across the street from my dad. In fact, she was probably older than Shatner when ST was being filmed, which makes me larf because they made it seem like she was supposed to be some cute young thing that he might just eventually get the hots for.
Ahhhh, Torchwoody goodness.
I wish we'd had Captain Pike instead.
Then there would be no "I! Am! KIROK!" And the world would be a sadder place.

But think of all the extra good acting we'd have. Oh, and the pretty.
