...because God knows you need some satisfaction in life besides shagging Captain Cardboard! And I never really liked you anyway. And you have stupid hair!

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Things I loved about Nurse Chapel: she wasn't particularly glamorous; she didn't tend to scream and faint; and in her introductory episode "What Are Little Girls Made Of?" when there was a cave-in she pragmatically steadied herself against a rock instead of clutching at Kirk for rescue.

I do wish we'd gotten to see a series with Number One rather than the good nurse, however.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I guess the idea that they'd normally have a guy there is...

pretty lame, yeah.

Trivia only important to me. The woman who played Yoeman Rand, Grace Whitney, grew up across the street from my dad. In fact, she was probably older than Shatner when ST was being filmed, which makes me larf because they made it seem like she was supposed to be some cute young thing that he might just eventually get the hots for.

I wish we'd had Captain Pike instead.

Then there would be no "I! Am! KIROK!" And the world would be a sadder place.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

And the world would be a sadder place.

But think of all the extra good acting we'd have. Oh, and the pretty.

I wish we'd had Captain Pike instead.

Oh, yeah, I forgot to say... blasphemer! Pike was kind of a hottie, though, I will admit.

Not javachik

Nurse Chapel was played by an actress (Majel Something) married to Gene Rodenberry. IIRC, she was the voice of the computer in TNG.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Nurse Chapel was played by an actress (Majel Something) married to Gene Rodenberry. IIRC, she was the voice of the computer in TNG.

She also played Deana (sp?) Troi's mother. Who later developed a crush on Odo. Majel Barrett, I think.

Mr. Scola’s wardrobe by Botany 500

And she was Number One in the original pilot.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Majel Barrett. She's also the voice of the Enterprise's computer in every series except Enterprise and in all the movies.
