I fed off a flowerperson, and I spent the next six hours watchin' my hand move.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

I'm not so much worried about someone's ethnicity or parentage in terms of their Britishness, myself. For my part, I wouldn't consider Claudia to be British, and I'd be surprised if she considers herself to be British. (I might be quite mistaken there, in which case, fair enough.) But, as I said, I think she'd be great in the role.

I rather feel like I'm coming across as a dickhead now, just for saying that this matters to me - obviously you can like whomsoever you like for your own game of Fantasy Doctor Casting. For me, because the show is special to me as almost the only (and certainly the most significant) piece of onscreen SciFi produced by my people, it would make me sad to have The Doctor played by someone imported.

Being unAmerican and a big Scifi geek, the vast vast vast majority of the shows and texts I've grown up loving are (North) American, so the few things that are from my own country are that much more special.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Don't feel alone Fay, I too think the Doctor should always be played by an actor from Great Britian.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

An interview with John Barrowman.

...Barrowman's popular image, which starts with his showman's grin, an expert line in saucy banter and a reported fondness for showing everyone (especially co-stars who are trying to film a scene) his penis.

Doctor Who is quintessentially British. So I don't think you are wrong, or that you are being peevish. You are trying to hold up a tradition that you value, and which would feel less true to you if certain aspects got changed. For what it's worth, I do not believe the showrunners will disappoint you in this. If I believed for a second that they would actually in fact cast Claudia Black as the Doctor, I might have a few misgivings myself.

Do you think we can get John Barrowman to come to a F2F... If it's ok for straight girls to go a couple sheets to the wind and start making out with other girls in spite of liking boys, surely it would be ok for him to come to Prom, get a few sheets to the wind, and start making out with girls in spite of liking boys. Right?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Yeah, I'm DVRing it to watch. Old show given to me an episode at a time! How convenient!

But I can't help wondering whether SciFi is spoiling me. Is God really a robot?
