I love Carlyle, but thinking about his roles in Trainspotting and Ravenous (and even The Full Monty) and then imagining him as the Doctor is a tad strange (and oddly amusing). I can't imaging the costume they'd give him, quite honestly, unless they went back to the look that Nine was sporting.

If you'd seen Claudia Black on Stargate, you would not be in doubt about her sense of whimsy. She was fantastic on Farscape, and fantastic in a totally different way on Stargate.
I thought that she was also fantastic on Dresden Files.
I never saw DF, but Claudia was certainly whimsical in SG-1. I can easily imagine her as The Doctor. Would love to see it happen, which makes it even less likely to happen.
Oh, Claudia Black would be fabulous. I'd love to see her on the any show in any capacity. But on DW would be fantastic.
Ha. The Hamish Macbeth/Trainspotting dissonance was more than enough of a headfuck for me with Robert Carlisle.
Claudia Black would be fabulous. I'm kind of in the 'British! Must be British!' headspace, but she would be splendid. And she can definitely do whimsical and funny and dry as well as badass.
She's half-British, isn't she?
I'm listening to a Hamish MacBeth book right now. And it's pretty good!
I love the Bill Nighy idea. I can just see him responding to someone telling him he's brilliant with...Yes, yes I am...and a giant twinkle in his eye.
eta: Though the running and the screaming, he might not be up to. Not that he wouldn't be athletic...just that he's too elegant.
She's half-British, isn't she?

On one of the commentary tracks from S1, Kemper (I believe) talks about how her not-quite-Australian accent is the result of her mixed Australian and British parentage, and how he made it the default Peacekeeper accent because it wasn't quite one or the other (and so sounded more "alien").
