Willow: Were there dolphins? Tara: Yes. Many dolphins at the pound. Willow: Was there a camel? Tara: There was the front of a camel. A half-camel.

'Selfless'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Who 4.11:

I didn't realize Rose had a "special" voice. Huh.

Whatever. Next week, IANTO!

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Who 4.11: Apparently, with the lots of acting (esp period stuff), her normal speaking voice has gotten posher (*This is what the Internet told me disclaimer). But it makes sense that she'd have a particular way of speaking for the character, distinct from her own normal way.

Also, I know! And Everyone Else Ever!

Bad Wolf

DW 4.11

Holy Hell everyone indeed. I can't wait, I want next week to be this week already.

All is well that ends in pizza.

DW 4.11

I kept trying to figure out who the Asian fortuneteller was.

About a half hour after watching, I finally figured it out.

She is the actress who played Chantho, from last season's Utopia, Chipo Chung.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

DW 4.11 Daniel, you reminded me of one of the nagging thoughts I had during the ep: why did the fortune-teller want to lure marks in to have their time/universe get altered. She seemed so adamant and passionate about it, but I still can't fathom her angle. What's her benefit?

The other query I had was why if Rose could show up at the exact right place at the exact right time to whisper Bad Wolf into Donna's ear, then how come they couldn't send Donna to the exact place and time, and why did it have to be Donna killing herself to accomplish this? Why not Rose going and blowing a giant pothole in the road. As awesome as Donna giving all the she had was, seeing that Rose had the ability to be there also makes me question why the f*** why?

Fiona - Jun 23, 2008 3:08:58 am PDT #3115 of 30001

Juliebird, I figured that Rose was a transmission from the parallel universe (rather like the Doctor was in her universe when they said their goodbyes), and thus only able to transport herself from place to place. Though: did she just tell UNIT what to do with the time machine or was she actually at the controls...? 'Cos that would spoil my theory. Anyway.

I thought that the fortune teller definitely had a Hidden Agenda, and was working for somebody, in order to get Donna away from the Doctor. That would probably make more sense than just tricking random people to feed her humungous pet beetle .

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Fiona, I suspect that (DW series 4 trailers & speculation) the Daleks are behind the bug, the fortune teller, and that something they have done has caused the darkness. Something very bad. Poor Doctor, he really hateses the Daleks.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Fear Itself reviews. They liked last week's best, but frustratingly had nothing to say about the acting.
