GF likes to compare Sokka (her favorite on Avatar) with Xander (her least favorite on Buffy) and say that's how Xander should have been. Sokka is the butt monkey...
So much this. The DH and I said that right away. Except, of course, that Sokka is a competent fighter and his inventy ideas are usually good. So while he gets slimed a bunch, and is having to fight without bending, he's not a total butt-monkey.

Just watched "Bitter" and "Library." At the end of Bitter, the DH said of Zuko, "That boy has a lot of pain." At the end of "Library" I said "See? Sokka rocks!"

After you finish season 2, you'll have to watch "The Angst, starring Prince Zuko." Bookmark it! You're mostly good to go, but the last thirty seconds totally spoils the finale.
