Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

I somehow just found out about the 2013 FedCon, where John Barrowman apparently picked Ben Browder as the target for a game of "shock the straight Southern boy." It did not turn out as planned. [link] [link]

The moral of this story is don't try to publicly embarrass the guy who's been molested by a Muppet in bondage gear on national television. [link]

The Librarians: a lot to like in this one, too. I did glimpse a blue box and a Delorean (with appropriate musical references) unser some of those sheets, yes?

Yes, loved that!

Supergirl

Kind of annoyed they weaseled out of Cat knowing Kara's secret, though I had a feeling they were going to do what they did as soon as J'onn was captured and Kara continued to pretend she wasn't Supergirl with Cat.

How have that many Kryptonians (there were at least a dozen in that final scene) not just flat-out taken over the Earth by now?

Yeah, even at Man of Steel power levels rather than Donner movie lift-the-San-Andreas-Fault-to-avert-giant-earthquake ones, multiple Kryptonians who can run interference for each other would be able to overwhelm just about any military on the planet.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I don't know why that doesn't bother me, but the Cat backtrack really does.

OTOH, there was something kind of great about J'onn's performance.

The boss being obsessed about a super hero's secret identity and going all Nancy Drew to prove it's one of their employees (even if correct) really rubs me the wrong way. It's not an organic dramatic situation at all.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of the backtrack, although I did like Kara's speech about why the job was important to her, and Cat did make a good point in that she should let the local superhero actually go do superhero stuff instead of deliver her coffee.

I hope at some point they do let the revelation stick (and just let her continue working there) because that would add to their relationship.

I loved J'onn's snark while Non had him captive. (Though I was wondering why he didn't just phase out of the shackles and bail the first instant he was alone.)

What for? It's not like they can actually hurt him (at least until they figure out the fire thing), and while he's there he can gather intel.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I think it's okay in the context of Kat being head of a news gathering organization. It'd be a big scoop. I never had a problem with it when it was Lois Lane, either.

The rollback bugged a little, and I had the same reaction as others to the phalanx of Kryptonians. If they really want to impose their will on the earth, they just need to stop dicking around. It'll be a walkover, even if you include Kal, Bruce, the Arrowverse, and the Flashverse as part of it.
