Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

And now that I've watched last night's Flash:

Damn, the show made the Pied Piper an actual villain to be reckoned with, instead of just a dude with a piccolo!

If I were Wells and I wanted the world to think I was confined to a wheelchair, I wouldn't live in a GLASS HOUSE. IJS.

The show said "Speed Force"!!!

I'm just fresh out of theories about Wells. His lightning is red, which (probably) means he didn't kill Nora Allen. But who the hell is he? Future!Barry? That seems too obvious.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I don't think he's future Barry, maybe Future Barry and Caitlin's son? I'd say Iris, but I dislike her.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Andrea correctly determined that the voice of Harrison's computer is Morena Baccarin.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Damn, the show made the Pied Piper an actual villain to be reckoned with, instead of just a dude with a piccolo!

I didn't like how dark they went with Hartley. Pursuing vengeance against Wells, and his cohorts by association, is fine. Sarcastically mocking them is more than fine. But flinging unrelated innocent bystanders off a dam is too mwah-ha-ha Evil for a character whose origin involves having his warnings about danger to the public hushed up. Not to mention the possibility of reforming and becoming an ally to the Flash like in the comics.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I took the innocent flinging as a means to distract the Flash (who would definitely save them) since it only started once our hero showed up.

Still plenty evil to run fast and loose with the lives of bystanders, but slightly less Mwah-ha-ha.

Oh, on Arrow: my favorite moment was Diggle's "What the HELL, Laurel?!?" You speak for all of us, Diggle.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Hey, I caught up on Arrow and Flash, so I caught up on this thread. Catching up on 200ish posts means encountering what ita had to say about things in December. So that hurt.

Oliver makes the worst decisions. I mean, the utter worst. Did no one think, "Maybe we can convinced Amanda Waller to nuke Nanda Parbat from orbit?" That would have been a better plan.

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

My Flash theory:

Wells is one of the later Reverse-Flashes: Hunter Zolomon or "Zoom". His whole bit was making Wally West a better hero by forcing him to experience adversity and tragedy. He was also paralyzed by Gorilla Grodd in the comics, but, you know, different continuity in all. I mean, there's the paralyzed part...anyway, Zoom hasn't shown up since Flashpoint, but it seems to fit.

The other Reverse-Flash, the one that killed Barry's mom, is Eobard Thawne, possibly a grandkid or great-grandkid of Eddie Thawne. Or Eddie has been Eobard the whole time...that could be cool.

Anyway, that's my theory.

KARAOKE OMG YES MOAR.

YES PLEASE

I believe I have sung along with that chanty over Guinness. As one does.

Cop Daddy and Thea need to start the All My Loved Ones Lie To Me ALL THE TIME support group.

ALSO THIS PLEASE

Oof, Dana.

For the first half of this episode I was really pleased with how not-that-skilled Laurel was at being Canary and sincerely thought she was gonna bail (and not deliberately make her father think Sarah is still alive, so cruel!). Very disappointed they went the other way. Use your powers for good, Felicity, not this.
