Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Oh, sorry, that really is a spoiler in every way, isn't it.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

It's already aired. It's fair game.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I'm not upset about the "spoiler", just that that character is back, blech. No worries, quester.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

You think that's bad? Walter was unconscious and helpless for who knows how long, yet did any of the Wraith bother to stop for a snack?!?

Art Crawl!!!

My tivo tells me that episode 6 of Torchwood is going to run at 2 am on the 24th of February or just 6 hours after episode 5.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Moonlight? Really? Fay, I expected more from you. It's kind of dreadful. and not in a good way

Well, you know, I'm not expecting it to be good. Clearly it's no Angel. But - pretty boys being slashy. Urban vampires. Keep in mind that I still find myself buying the Anita Blake books out of a sort of morbid, carcrash fascination (although that Kenyon woman's stuff was too risible and cheesy for me to tolerate, even for comedy value)...I'm prepared to shell out a couple of quid on pirate DVDs for a look-see. I'll give Moonlight a crack, at a pinch, even if only to roll my eyes - I liked whatsisface on Veronica Mars, and I'd be happy to watch him having a crack at the Undead schtick.

(What I really want, in this genre, is more Blood Ties, of course. I do enjoy Huff's books enormously, and the TV show was very likeable.)

Pushing Daisies, on the other hand, simply sounds splendid, and very very much my cup of tea.

Compassionately intolerant

Moonlight turned out to be more fun than I expected. Predictable and depth-free, but pretty and sweet in moments. Testimony to my willingness to just enjoy certain things.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

In Ashes to Ashes 2 I'm a little taken aback that she was so wrong on her second case--wasn't whatisname right on all of his? And I'm a lot taken aback at how she dresses. Harrumph.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Well, ita, she wasn't so wrong. She did peg the kid as having the potential to be a bomber, which her mom didn't at all. I think Sam was pretty much always right on his cases, though, even when Gene was still somewhat right. Then again, Philip Glenister gets top billing on this show, so I guess he gets to be more right more often.

I liked this episode more. It felt more like a real episode (as happens with non-pilots), and I like that Alex has to deal with her mother and that they gave us a sort of endgame for this season, if not the series (attempting to save her parents).
