A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

Ok, so I finally saw the new Doctor Who. That was mildly entertaining but not awesome, and although I had trouble seeing the Doctor in Capaldi in the beginning, he was there in the end. Not sure I understood why we had to have Madame Vastra scolding Clara about her relationship with the Doctor, that was odd.
And that fight scene was far from believable.
In other news, Capaldi is the same age that Hartnell was when he took the role. 55 then and 55 now:

I'll say this much, the new opening looks great on the big screen.
BTW I quite liked the dinosaur. The Doctor saw the dinosaur, not as a monster, but as a woman trapped in a alien world, far from home. When she died, he (still seeing her as a person) wondered not who would have the power to kill a creature so awesome, but whether there had been any similar murders. So the show does a much better job than it usually does of showing the doctor has a truly alien viewpoint, while at the same time showing that it is essentially a humane (unfortunate root to that word in this context) viewpoint when properly understood. Really good bit of "show, not tell".
I just watched The Five Doctors last weekend! Richard Hurndall did very well evoking Hartnell.
I remember hearing back in the day that Carole Ann Ford was really taken aback by just how well Hurndall emulated Hartnell's performance.
In a way I'm glad that Baker's absence prompted them to beef up the First Doctor's role in the story. It was nice to see him take the leadership role in foiling Berusa's plot.
I enjoyed the new Who, but my desire to never see any more of Missy outweighs my desire to see more of the Grumpy!Who and Clara Show. I think I'll continue my tradition of watching Doctor Who sporadically and mostly via Tumblr.
The fact that Capaldi is only four years older than I am gives me cognitive dissonance.
Where do I access Acorn tv? It's not on my Roku.
As far as I know, it's through the AcornOnline.com website.
Acorn was on roku for awhile. That's where I discovered some show I'm blanking on the title. Mystery show set post WW I in Australia.
Mystery show set post WW I in Australia.
Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries?
I think I'll pony up the money for Acorn. They give a free month, Hulu does a free week.
I'm excited about Missy because it's Sue White from
Green Wing
! But I agree that the scene left me sort of baffled, confused, and not really wanting to see more. We'll see where she goes.
