'Lies My Parents Told Me'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I can't say anything not spoilery so I'm gonna just sit in this corner and flail quietly.

Is it spoilery to say "Oh, flashback wig. Never change."?

Otherwise, I'm just squeeing like Bobby Hill over here.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

I *can* say how freakin' happy I am that they changed the colour filter of the flashbacks. Ugh, the gray-green island palette was the WORST.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I got my season 2 DVDs of Orphan Black and watching the bonus bits, I found it hilarious that while the 4 clone dance scene basically took two days to film, plus some choreography and reshoots, that the confrontation between Sarah and Rachel in the first episode of the season (I think it was the first, but early in the season anyway) took way, WAY longer because it was actual clone-on-clone contact and closeups.

It does make me think that the little hand contact between Cosima and Sarah may have taken almost as much time as the dance scene. It also sounds like the person who had to do the most running around choreography wise was Felix in the dance scene, since he had contact with everyone except Helena.

Aha! So the Arrow folks initially wanted Ted Kord and was told the character was unavailable (hmmm) which is why they went with Ray Palmer : [link]

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

DC has weird availability requirements at times.

Young Justice was originally supposed to have Donna Troy on the team, but they were told both Wonder Girls (as well as a bunch of other characters) were unavailable. Then, when they were starting on the second season, suddenly all characters were open, but with the 5 year time skip, they felt it was too late to bring in Donna and brought in Cassie with rest of new team. (Donna was then planned to show up at Rocket's bridal shower in the one episode, but they ended up not having time to design both her civilian and superhero look. Same goes for Mary Marvel.)

And of course there was the infamous "Bat Embargo" during JLU and the time Big Barda was on the Justice League in Batman Beyond because Wonder Woman wasn't available.

Out of all of those times, only the Batman villains ended up in use (for The Batman). So while it'd be cool if we got some sort of Blue Beetle series (though I'd rather see Jaime Reyes) I wouldn't hold my breath.

I wondered why that character wasn't Ted Kord. That would have been excellent.

(though I'd rather see Jaime Reyes)

Oh man, if they did it right, with Paco and Brenda and his family and Peacemaker, that would be SO GOOD. (I was thrilled to see Paco in the "Rise of the Blue Beetle" episode of the Brave and the Bold.)
