A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
A belated thought on Paul. I agree with the criticism of the actor playing him, but at the same time the character is kind of a leaf in the wind, no? When he was Beth's monitor and she loved him and he did not love her (plus she suffered depression and drug addiction) he took the side of Dyad which was clearly stronger. Then when he was with Sarah, he had emotions for her and ended siding with her against Dydad. Although Dyad was still stronger rationally, Sarah was right there and her overwhelming personality and proximity made her the emotionally stronger part of his life. Mixed loyalty to Sarah survived a while, but when she was gone long enough he wavered back all the way to Dyad, especially Rachel. Until he Mrs. S. and then her overwhelming charisma was much as the arguments that caught between Rachel and Leakey he needed a "new friend" swayed him to not try and take Sarah. Again he gave in the person who affected him *emotionally* as the stronger person. Leaf in the wind.
I am now envisaging Paul being replaced by Dean Pelton in "Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design".
Heh, Billytea. Rachel has now lost three parents to Dyad, her Mother, Father and Mentor (even though her Mentor was also the murderer of her other parents). Her Mother is dead. Seeing her father again is likely to lead to him being dead, and even if that obstacle was removed, he is a broken man. I don't know if she knows that Leakey is dead, but even if she never knows that for sure, she knows he is lost to her. Also, though Helena killed Daniel, he was more loyal to Leakey than to her, something she is bitter about. So in a way she lost Daniel (who she mourned and appears to have loved) to Dyad long before he died.
So really strong motives to turn against Dyad. Of course she has been a corporate power player for a long time - so we will have to see what her controlling passion is. Still, she seems capable of love and mercy and of putting them before her self-interest and before the interests of Dyad. That does not speak well of her long terms prospects inside Dyad Group.
2nd Xbones was less good. The acting remains first rate, and the writers give good intrigue and double dealing. But the women were rather backgrounded in this one. Not that they were not important plot points, just not given much character development. (No, romance with the lead does not count as character development.) While trusted woman Lieutenant choosing not to have sex with Blackbeard keeps her from being shoved into the category of minion/mistress, her reasoning (basically if they have sex, he will lose interest in her) is kind of the old 50s "the women you really love are the ones you don't have sex with". Plus she still gets the traditional role of being worried about the risks he takes, risks he pooh-poohs.
One exception: the young women pirate, who I thought had a very tiny part in the first one is showing some character development - a little bit more than a Conan with tits.
One advantage of a pirate series, especially one that is only loosely connected to historical reality of the time is you don't have to lock women characters into traditional gender roles. After a promising start, it seems like they felt the the women were a bit further out of the box than they liked, and shoved them a step back in.
OMG, Orphan Black! This show! Fucking Tony?
I know why Pete and Myka got together on Warehouse 13.
Someone wrote a fanfic about them using an artifact.
Maybe a computer once owned by Steven Moffat.
OMG, Orphan Black! This show! Fucking Tony?
I did not see that coming.
Tony hitting on Felix - so very, very wrong.
Right? So disturbing. Sister kisser. Well played, show.
Also disturbing - Ethan saying Kira is the prize.
When I said
Donnie doesn't exactly gave a Mr. Wolf to call in, though. Poor guy.
I should have known that he does have an Alison.
Unless Alison sends in the clones (sorry - couldn't resist), that's not going to end well. At all.
eta Well or Felix.
So Rachel doesn't actually know he's dead. When she started telling people he'd had a heart attack I figured Dyad had found the body. I guess that was just what she was going to say to let him disappear.
