Fred: Oh my God! Angel, you're…cute! Angel: Fred, don't! Fred: Oh, but the little hands! And the hair! Angel: Hey! You're fired.

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Not technically, but it seemed like a bunch of folks just upstream hadn't watched yet.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Sure, I'm down with that for a little while longer.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

It was enjoyable, but jeez it dragged on at parts. They could have easily written the same story without the extended episode length.

Compassionately intolerant

I completely agree with Jon and -t. I didn't follow everything and felt it could have been shortened considerably. There were a few lovely moments...and then the rest.

Sigh.

Looking forward to seeing more of Capaldi.

I was intrigued by how abrupt his regeneration was . It seems perhaps a precursor to a more serious, even ferocious, turn of events.

Hm.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I agree, Jon. I spent most of the episode waiting for the regeneration rather than caring about what was happening. It felt very mechanical, a transparent attempt to tie together various elements of Eleven's tenure into one story, and it doesn't quite work. While I do like the idea of the Time Lords attempting to get in through the Crack, the whole plot felt so contrived and artificially constructed that it bugged me. It was clear that Moffat had been tossing out all these things throughout the run with no actual idea what they meant and this was his desperate attempt to make it look like it was real foreshadowing. Don't get me wrong, I know that happens a lot on television (heeeeeeey, Lost), and I LOVE it when it works, but it doesn't here.

Also, I know Moffat changes the rules of the Weeping Angels every fucking time he brings them back, but...that Angel WAS HOLDING CLARA'S FOOT why the hell wasn't she sent back in time okay whatever.

There were some enjoyable naked antics, and Matt Smith's final speech was lovely because yes, wow, I love comparing the regenerations to the fact that we all change throughout our lives, we don't stay the "same person" forever, but I thought I'd be a little more emotional saying goodbye. The Amy Pond cameo was nice; I was hoping there would be one when we saw little Amelia. And the regeneration itself was so abrupt; I was preparing myself for Capaldi and then BOOM. It had the intended disorienting effect.

Farewell, Matt Smith. I wasn't sure about you at first, but I grew to love you a lot. Bring it, Capaldi.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Peter Capaldi is also a long-time friend and former band mate of Craig Ferguson.

This could get interesting.

I half expected Clara's grandmother to turn out to be named "Barbara Chesterton" or some such.

Something tells me her meetup with Clara's grandfather is a plot point.

Other notes:

- It appears the Doctor's Regeneraton count has been reset to 1 or 0?

- Both Matt Smith and Karen Gillian were wearing wigs. Her's was her own hair!

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

In spite of good moments, a hot mess. Also why the massive case of "tell don't show"?

My assumption is that "A new cycle of regenerations" means 12 more. Or an infinite number more, because, television.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I've heard the Walgreens on Gallifrey sells regenerations by the dozen.
