Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Tardis sex is not the first place I went to.

Where else is there?

All is well that ends in pizza.

Yeah, one would think the clothing on Revolution would look a little more home-spun, for instance.

I don't know. There must be scads of clothing in darkened stores and people's homes.

Well, the ones that didn't burn down, get landed upon by planes or pillaged in the immediate aftermath.

I'm thinking there would be entire communities and cities out there that simply organized, removed cars from their streets, and started to get on with life after a while.

One of the big advantages over the original era before electricity is that we have hindsight. We have books and knowledge of steam engines that they had to work out the first time. There are survival books, and Boy scouts, and how-tos galore in libraries in every community.

Yes, people all over the world would die, and yes, there would be starvation, but all in all, I do not think everywhere would be as chaotic as it seems most places are in Revolution. (They have shown a few good places.)

After 15 years I would have expected more re-use of the metal in vehicles.

But then I'm not writing the show.

For those with a couple of hours or so to spare - today's Google Doodle is a Doctor Who game:

Apparently it's the "largest ever" Google Doodle, whatever that means:

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Revolution really lost me with the pilot where the planes fell out of the air when the power cut off. I mean, except for a very few fighter jets, planes can glide without their engines working. That was a true shark-jump moment.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Can you jump the shark in a pilot? Seems like more of a baseline establishment kind of thing.

Revolution and Physics have a bit of a strained relationship. Revolution is always bringing flowers and candy and saying how nobody really appreciates Physics' dark beauty the way Revolution does, but Physics is pretty sure Revolution is in love with something its constructed in its own mind, not the real Physics.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Bwahahahaha! So much this. (If we're being completely honest this relationship is not unlike the one between Sleepy Hollow and History, but sadly for Revolution, it doesn't have Sleepy Hollow's good looks making up for its lack of attention to detail.)

Maybe it's just that I've swallowed whole so much SF/F and alternate history over the years, but the bizarre History on Sleepy Hollow bothers me much much less. Because they're departing so much from the World We Know in their premise, it doesn't bother me that much of their history is similarly jacked around.

brillig

I'm just impressed that Sleepy Hollow is even bothering to point out the other side of history to Crane, ie, Jefferson's less savory side.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Anyone watching the new season of Lost Girl? I think it might have lost me, despite Kenzi being amazing (and beautiful) still. I accidentally recorded the Talking Girl or Lost Talk or whatever that usually annoying new genre of chatty after show is, and that made me think the first episode was an extension of Anna Silk's maternity leave (her babby was on the after show for a hot second). I was quite enjoying an episode that was light on Bo, because that's how I roll, but near the end when they couched their upcoming mission in terms of rescuing the one they all loved the most, BARF. I get that for Kenzi (sisters before misters, and all that) and for Dyson in different ways, but the way they said it was creepily messianic, and, well, not something I think Anna Silk is capable of living up to.

So I haven't gotten any subsequent episodes yet.

All is well that ends in pizza.

The Doctor Who bio pic "An Adventure in Space and Time" has now aired.

I just checked, and it was already available to *ahem* late last night.

50th special simulcast tomorrow, of course.

Are there any W&P plans for tomorrow?
