You'll fight, and you'll shag, and you'll hate each other till it makes you quiver, but you'll never be friends.

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

But Sebastian McCoy was in the beginning of the TV movie!

I may be worrying about this too much.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm pretty impressed that an IO9 regular who seems to remember every classic Who episode predicted The Sisterhood of Karn from the photo of the woman in red.

...was in the beginning of the TV movie!

Yes, Sylvester McCoy regenerated into Paul McGann in the tv movie. The point about Eight was that the regeneration from Eight to Nine was never shown, CE just turned up in the reboot. So that leaves lots of space for retropective messing about (aka timey-wimeyness) .

Somebody elsewhere pointed out that the only other regeneration not shown onscreen was Troughton to Pertwee, but that would have been pushing things a bit.

I did like that Paul McGann was just allowed to be a lot older than he was in the movie. It does suggest that Eight had a long and eventful life too, we just never saw it (though as Tom points out, it has been extensively documented in audio dramas).

OTOH, the picture of John Hurt they used was much younger. I wonder where they got it from?

Compassionately intolerant

I've been wondering if Fiona's point about McCann's age is why the other Doctor's have not been invited to participate. McCann still looks very much like himself in the tv movie .

Perhaps TPTB were concerned about throwing people out of the story with characters that have so obviously grown old . On the other hand, since actors have been reused so many times, they could have been cast as new characters !

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Watching the trailer for the Day of the Doctor, CE seems conspicuously absent, don't you think?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Yes. I believe he was asked to return, but since he didn't want to, they invented this whole War Doctor thing.

Ah, meta.

I suspected metareasoning. Too bad.

Oh, I don't know. Colin Baker vehemently stated that none of the older Doctors had been asked back, including Paul McGann . So now I almost expect them to produce CE like a rabbit out of a hat .
