Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Because books.

I loved Renfield. He was my favorite thing.

I didn't hear the Christian Slater when I was watching, but now that you mention it, he did! I was glad we got to hear his British accent, too, though.

I thought overall it was just kind of boring for something with so much scenery-chewing.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Renfield was the only thing I liked about the show. He needs to be on a better show, and work with a better class of vampire.

I am so down with that.

It was surprisingly boring considering it had girsly murders and opera sex and magical lightbulbs, Amy. Which is probably why I will ultimately dump it.

Whereas the slapping on the familiar name is what is sending me into paroxysms of rage. If you're going to call something a "new interpretation" of Dracula, don't just use the character names and ignore everything else!

That was kind of my reaction to "Bram Stoker's Dracula" (the movie, I mean. It is confuing to reference) and at the time I convinced myself that if they had just not called it "Bram Stoker's" I would have been much more all right with it and so I am trying to be consistent in my vampiric film & TV criticism by cutting this version the same hypothetical slack.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Aaron is going to be the most reluctant wizard ever.

The sad thing is, if not for the tacked-on love story between Mina and Dracula that ate the movie (damn you, Winona Ryder!) it would have been pretty true to the novel. It's the best depiction of the opening chapters in Dracula's castle that I've ever seen.

Despite Keanu Reeves being out-acted by Gary Oldman's shadow.

This is true.

Despite Keanu Reeves being out-acted by Gary Oldman's shadow.

This is also very, very true.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm really going to have to try to see this online, at least to see how long I can watch without wanting to look through my fingers.

Oh yeah, the first half was everything I wanted, which made the betrayal all the more bitter.

Is Marilyn Manson stoned on Talking Dead tonight, or is he normally this rambly and incoherent?

So Sleepy Hollow is pre-empted by some sports thing?
