Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

yeah, but Crane seemed like he hadn't experienced any of it.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm glad they're having fun with the character discovering present-day conveniences we take for granted. Like with using a gun for one shot, because he's never encountered a revolver before, and thinks he has to reload. That's more sensawunder for me than a headless horseman.

Because books.

What's funniest to me is that before either aired I assumed Sleepy Hollow would be too ridiculous to watch, and Dracula would be, you know, good.

It's also funny (to me anyway) that a show with incest, bestiality, torture, blood rituals, and issues of dubious zombie consent is the one that feels so familiar. American Horror Story, you haven't let me down yet.

Grimm was fun. Now that I've read y'all's comments, I might want a cocktail for Dracula...I'll try it with just Diet Coke, see how that goes.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

And he's against this? Without the context I'd have assumed that was fond reminiscing.

I think from his tone that he was against it, yes. In one of the flashbacks I think I saw someone burning the actress who is playing Mina in the current AU (and then she woke up gasping from a nightmare of the same), so he is probably blaming the Order for killing his One True Love.

Yeah. None of it makes any kind of sense.

Hm. Seems the Diet Coke was sufficient. I don't know what they're aiming for with this Dracula, but I don't hate it. Not yet, anyway. It's on pretty thin ice in a couple if particulars, but I'll give it a couple more weeks to justify itself.

I think I may need to arrange all my copies of Dracula to make a fort to hide in during this show.

I cannot tell you how much this idea delights me.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

One of the peeps on Tumblr said that reading my liveblogging of the show last night made them feel like they were watching my slow descent into madness. Which is kind of what it felt like.

You are more forgiving than I am. I'm not subjecting myself to that again.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

So, just bad? Not so bad it's good? That's a shame because Jonathan Rhys Meyers is so pretty.

I think I may need to arrange all my copies of Dracula to make a fort to hide in during this show.

Pictures of this are required.

And sounded eerily like Christian Slater in this. But no, not even so bad it's good, IMO. It was a hot mess of steampunk, conspiracies with an ancient order of ... evil oil barons?, and vampires, with character names from Dracula glued on.

I didn't end up making a fort, because moving all the copies of Dracula would be a pretty big task. But I did cling to one of my copies while drinking absinthe mixed with sparkling wine: [link]
