I can see a scene about hunting down a shaman being the first thing to go, though, when editing a script.
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
You could have shown it coming up in a Google search in the same 30 seconds it took Abby to tell Crane the Shaman would not be what he expected. It could have been a very funny scene if it was Crane googling Mohawk Shaman New York (it actually takes more than that to yield the result I found, but as you point out it has to move quickly) and then say "This Google you showed me is truly a wondrous thing". If they needed the time, the could have cut out the clumsy "Crane was righteous when it came to Native America rights" dialog. Or given that this would have eliminated the whole Geronimotors thing, they could have had the Shaman not need to to brought up to speed.
"We are here for ..." "I know. It was told to me. You will have to go into a special guided sleep. We don't have a sweat lodge here, but there is a hot tub in the physical therapy room that is not in use at the moment, so that will have to do. "
The showrunner should totally hire me as a consultant.
Were those tents belonging to the Mohawks? I'd assumed that they were in an American/Colonial camp and the Native American's were the guests. Because, y'know, tents.
Me, too.
They were the round kind with leather and sticks pointing out at the top. Did Colonials make tents that coincidentally looked like the teepees that Crane kept talking about?
Half-naked, tied-down, sweaty, writhing people worked for me. I appreciate that they did it to the fella too.
I kind of dug the Indian guy with a kitschy business having actual religious/spiritual/cultural inclinations. There is certainly rl precedence for that.
I echo Trudy. I'm not expecting a lot, here.

I was really deeply hoping for more sensitive handling of ethnic diversity so to see the ball dropped that hard right out the gate after I'd been pointing at the black co-exec producer and wondering if he was mitigating shit...damned, that exact shit could have happened in New Orleans to black folk, in slave days to black folk anywhere in these fine states, to Jamaica to my mother right now...it is merely othering, and for a show that was pulling in so many others so efficiently it's a stark reminder that we are still others, even if we get lulled into a sense of comfort and familiarity.
I didn't previously wonder if they came from a voudoun/Santeria background, but you bet it's on the edges of my mind now...
