'War Stories'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The werewolf character might be cute at times, because he's sweet, but he's not attractive because he's dumb.

Okay, I am the 180 of shipping Sterek, but this picture [link] is so perfect I wish I'd done it for my OTP. Ah, well.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

They've been reusing actors since the time of Hartnell.

It happens.

Best part about the casting: being able to introduce people to Malcolm Tucker. Mwahahahaha.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Bonny--Capaldi was adorable in Local Hero.

He was also heartbreaking in Children of Earth. (Torchwood)

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Compassionately intolerant

It's been so long since I've seen Local Hero. I'm totally rewatching.

It's been on my mind a lot in the last week, based on some of Matt Smith's recent interviews...I wonder how much of his leaving was not initiated by him.

I know the line is that he is doing movies, but his body language suggests he's not all that thrilled. Also, Moffat made a statement about how recasting was not really in his hands, but a BBC leadership decision.

The FIFTIETH is such a huge deal, I wonder if 'out with the old, in with the new' is a business decision.

Plus, a couple of the Brit articles I've read in the last week remarked that ratings have been bad over the last year. There were no citations, so who knows.

Given my own waning interest and then resurgent interest with the new Who being someone I know of and am interested in seeing interpret the part...well, it all seems unlikely to be coincidence.

In any case, I'm glad the reveal is done and I can get on with anticipating how they handle the transition.

Judging from the little insight I've had into the ends of some shows I ignore everything about why any given show ends--both what the press says and what I can come up with. Neither of them are beholden to facts.
