Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Malcolm Tucker as the new Doctor! I'm hoping Capaldi would keep his Scottish accent. For those who haven't watched Thick of It / In the Loop, here's a gloriously profanity-filled reminder: [link]

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Well, he's been a couple of Who-verse shows, so he's a known quantity to the production. I thought he was good in both the Pompii adventure and CoM.

I'm not sure about keeping the Scot accent though. It's pretty hard to understand a Scot when he's not making an effort to be understood by the rest of us.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

So, I'm finally catching up on the last two episodes of Arrow, and I want to hit Ollie with the heavy stick of Stop-Being-Stupid.

I suspect it's somewhat less hard for those in the UK, and I hope he keeps it.

(I don't have any issues with it, but see also, grandparents from.)

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I can usually parse Scot-speak after about 2-3 sentences, but I'm better at that sort of thing than most Americans.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

It is almost as though the it is not the primary aim of those making Doctor Who to cater to Americans (sob, sniffle, sob).

I've only once in my life not been able to parse it, and he was an elderly Glaswegian who was pissed to the gills at the time, and as I'd never had a problem understanding him before, I suspect it's the drink more than the accent that was an issue there.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

Understanding Mark McManus in Taggart was a stretch for me, but listening to him was a large part of why I enjoyed the series.

Compassionately intolerant

I was immediately disappointed but the idea is growing on me.

I quite like Capaldi's accent and suspect that his broad film and tv experience has smoothed it out a bit.

Like Plei, I have always had a facility for understanding the songsaccents of my people, but I honestly don't think people will struggle with Capaldi's. It's much less 'burr-y' than even Tennant's.

I like the idea of an older Doctor, just for contrast and, though I have not liked one single Capaldi-played character, seeing interviews with him makes me think he can might be quite good.

For no particular reason, the fact that he's been a director (Oscar winning, as it happens) makes me hope he can make Moffat's stuff better.

HE has been my biggest disappointment so far.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I have not liked one single Capaldi-played character

Really? I've loved him in the three things (that I can remember) I've seen: The Pompei Who, The Torchwood mini, and The Hour. What haven't you liked?
