Arrow season 2 trailer

ALL THE TOMMY FEELS.

I also totally forgot about Roy Harper and his red hoodie.

Apparently Felicity is making Ollie go the full Batman with the swanky cave.

And if that was Black Canary, but not Laurel (which I can't actually tell if it's her or not), then my unspoiled speculation is that it's Laurel's sister.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Man, I was looking forward to some My Little Pony. Still...I didn't realise I was hoping Summer has an action role until now. Her Reaver dance in Serenity was so much better than most female characters (not played by Q or Hsu) get. Because she can.

But Matt, hasn't the show been hammering home the Scott-is-Galahad thing for over two seasons now? The idea that he's trying to be just so good about this and it plays havoc with the hierarchy rules--well, I've been waiting for it since season 1. You give that to Derek or Isaac or one of the twins and it looks random. But Scott's been quite markedly different from all the werewolves we've seen so far (Isaac is doing a good job too, but not in the leader/problem solver role).

So me, I'm perfectly okay with pack-of-one (because he's so different) or pack-of-humans (because he does fit that role) and general furry Buffy thing making him all kinds of exceptions.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

There's been a fair amount of Scott-is-a-neglectful-friend and Scott-is-a-girl-obsessed-halfwit mixed in with the better qualities, so I don't think he's been presented as an unrealistic paragon of virtue worthy of note from on high, just as a goodhearted kid who benefits from comparison with all the emotionally damaged/violent other wolves.

I don't mind at all Scott becoming an alpha werewolf because the qualities that make him nice/likeable to the audience do the same to other werewolves and draw him to take their lead from him. But I don't like the idea of the him having some special destiny. He's done the networking to earn advancement, and I'd like the narrative to acknowledge that rather than treating him as someone who's innately better because of who he is rather than what he does.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

II was beyond pleased to see that the Scott-is-alpha-without-a-wolfpack things play out. The one Teen Wolf fan I have on any of my dashes, though, is struggling against people who are saying that Scott is an awful person and doesn't deserve this, meanwhile Derek is shitting rainbows.

I'm with you. But, you know, after Lydia, Scott's my favorite.

(Way after Lydia. Lydia's my favorite by so many miles.)

I gave in and bought the episodes I couldn't see for free yet on Amazon, and am now all caught up.

I admit, I'm like most fen, Stiles love is large and strong, and Scott is my second favourite. But Lydia has come along hugely since S1, and since Allison has nothing to do and Boyd is dead...she's a respectable third. Go team Isaac! Try and compete!

Isaac is growing on me, I'll admit.

I like Stiles, just a little less than I like Scott.

Of the non-top-three in my book, I have a sick fondness for Peter. He's my favorite Hale.

I have zero favourite Hales. They all drive me batshit.

Isaac is a charmer (and a good guy) and Sharman's all over my dash. But damn Sinqua and his other show ways--I wanted to learn something, anything about Boyd to love more than his stalwart demeanour. Killing him just felt like acquiescing to real world resource constraints.

I was frankly surprised they brought Sinqua back and featured him as much as they did this season what with the other series gig, so it was kind of a bonus. Though it's galling that Boyd got T-Dogged just as we were learning hints of backstory and seeing him be proactive in making strategic plans. And we were already running a significant deficit in the pretty+able to act department this season by trading Gage Golightly for Adelaide Kane and Colton for the Zoolander Twins; this development is Not Helping.

at least I'm glad that Lydia and Allison are both getting more agency this season (with actual sense-making motivations in the latter's case!), and that the Tylers seem to have stepped up their acting games somewhat.

Lydia's motivation/powers/story don't make much sense to me, but she's sharp and funny. Allison seemed to have more to do when she was dating Scott (or about to). But it's good that she showed up in Gramp's room. I am optimistic about her.

Oh, poor Jennifer. I still think of her as at-least-she's-better-than-Amelia, but LOW BAR.
