I love Claudia but I don't want to see her as the Doctor. Angela Lansbury is probably my dream casting for a female Doctor.
'Out Of Gas'
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Helen Mirren would do though. And she's shown willing. I'd also accept Judy Dench.
Shown willing to take a role in a kid's TV show? She is an incredible sport, but I couldn't see her...well, not outlasting 9 by any stretch.
She has said publicly she wants to do it. [link] Maybe she does not mean it. Or as you say, perhaps she would not last. If I can't imagine the show runner not at least talking to her to find out if it was just an impulse during an interview, or if it was a feeler. Sometimes actor will go way below their paygrade (in more than the money sense for a role they really want). If she is enough in love with the show, she might do it. And again, I certainly hope the showrunner at least decides it does not hurt to ask. And if Helen Mirren was willing a ten or twelve ep run before another Doctor also would not hurt a thing.
It's kind of the TV version of James Bond, though, isn't it? I'd bet everyone's agent (to the frustration of whoever repped Eccleston) has given orders for them to talk about how flattered they'd be to take on this iconic role from their childhood with added adult dimension. Especially the women and black people (I saw Sophie Okenedo listed in a discussion on the next Doctor, so great--twofer!).
I'll defer to your knowledge of the industry. So you are pretty confident that if she actually got the offer (at Matt Smith pay, not Helen Mirren pay because I doubt they have Helen Mirren budget) she'd say no?
No, I'm pretty confident that her having said yes is meaningless, because all British actors are expected to act welcoming and flattered by the mere suggestion.
I'd be impressed (and happy!) if she wanted the sort of fanbase and fan activity that comes along with it, but it would definitely be cool.
I'm curious to see if the Revolution cast can do the humor.
Can the show take the humour? We're talking Smile Time here--Revolution struck me with more of a "laugh at" feeling than what Edlund's identifying characteristics lean towards.
But maybe he's done being wacky! Tim (after his stint on Buffy, natch) mixed up the genre and non-genre for a while.
And I really need to watch AHS. Jesus, ita !!
I still have one episode to watch of In The Flesh and am still intrigued.
